Mathematicians Research Project

Our Goal: to research a famous mathematician who impacted math as we know it.

PROCESS:
1.Select and research mathematician and complete “Let Me Introduce You” form either on paper or digitally.

2. Select one of the project forms (description) for presenting the research.

3.Present project.

PROJECT DESCRIPTIONS:

· Mobile—Create a hanging mobile that tells the story of the mathematician’s life. Each shape on the mobile should represent one part of the “Let Me Introduce You” research form. Pictures or writing on each shape should explain important parts of the mathematician's biography. Use this to give an oral presentation to the class.

· Oral Report—Dress up as the person you have chosen. Tell "your" life story in a creative way using scenery and/or props. Use this to give an oral presentation to the class.

· Collage—Use pictures, words, maps, and symbols to create a large collage on poster board about the mathematician. Use this to give an oral presentation to the class.

· PowerPoint presentation—Use pictures, words, maps, and symbols to create a PowerPoint presentation. Use this to give an oral presentation to the class.

Assessments:

1. Daily Grade: Complete “Let Me Introduce You” form Final Daily Grade ______

2. Test Grade: Presentation
_____ 20 pts. Final presentation includes all research
_____ 20 pts. Creativity
_____ 20 pts. Individual Effort
_____ 40 pts. Quality of final presentation
_____ 100 pts. Total points Final Test Grade ______

In each class period, only one project will be on a mathematician.
