Does it Matter Where the United States Trades?, Master's Essay, Summer 2007

  • Studied the relationships between the United States unemployment rate in the manufacturing sector and net exports from the United Kingdom and China
  • Also studied the relationships between the employment level in the US manufacturing sector and net exports from the UK and China
  • Found that trading with developed countries increases the unemployment rate as well as the employment level in the US manufacturing sector. Trading with developing countries decreases the unemployment rate and employment level; however these four results were not statistically significant.
  • Used E-Views for time series analysis and VAR/VEC model building

  • Studied the trend of migration with respect to age using a panel data set
