Aim:Everyone has the opportunity to improve their own health and wellbeing

Total time for this session:
c. 16 minutes 30 seconds

What you need for the session:

-Copy of the health and safety DVD ‘zero accidents, zero harm, zero compromise’

-A projector/means of effectively showing module two to your team

-Speakers (where possible), if not thenincrease your volume on your computer so everyone can hear the film

-Paper/flipchart and pens

Team discussion(6 minutes)

As team managers please lead the discussion around the following:

Consider health and wellbeing(3 minutes)
Discuss:

  1. What do you think all think of when you consider health and wellbeing?
  2. Who does health and wellbeing apply to?

Lead: Following the team discussion please talk about anything not discussed from example answers below:

  1. Healthy eating, stress management, general fitness, appropriate training to avoid injuries, rehabilitation and physiotherapy
  2. Everyone whether in an office, on a site or anywhere else at Thames Water. No matter what your age or gender.

Thames Water health and wellbeing(3 minutes)
Discuss:Do you know what health and wellbeing resources are available to you at Thames Water?

Lead: Following the team discussion, talk about anything missing from example answers below:

- Wellbeing pages of the portal (under the HR section)

- Health and Safety Hub

- Employee Assistance Programme

- Occupational Health

- Access to discounted wellbeing facilities through benefits on tap

- HR policies, eg. flexible working and special leave

- Access to physiotherapy

Group exercise(6 minutes)

Lead and then discuss: Ask your team to consider how they can look after both their own and each other’s health and wellbeing. Capture a list of ideas and suggestions on a flipchart/paper.

After the meeting ask one of your team to type these up and either post them on your health and safety board or email them to everyone in the team as a reminder of what you intend to do to improve health and wellbeing.

Closing the session (1 minute)

Lead: Encourage everyone to consider how they can help deliver the aim ‘everyone has the opportunity to look after their own health and wellbeing’.
