MAHA D2 Meeting Minutes

September 19, 2017 - 6:30pm

Downriver

Meeting was called to order by Carl Brogley. Thanks to Downriver for hosting.

Associations Represented: Allen Park, Belle Tire, Clark Park, Detroit, Downriver, Garden City, Grosse Ile, Monroe, Trenton, Westland.

Rules (Debbie Frescura): Debbie has handouts of rule changes. She gave her phone number if anyone has any questions. This is a rule change year so if anyone has a rule change they would like to propose please discuss with Doug and Debbie. They must be in by Dec. 15.

Registration (Rick Frescura): There have been some issues with the background checks this year since a new company is being used. It is taking about 7-10 days. Pilot Program non varsity high school, they are allowed to carry up to 25 players up to Oct 31. After Oct 31, if they lose players but retain over 20 they can keep those players but cannot add anymore. If you lose more than 5 and go below 20 you can add as many back to take you up to 20. For games you can only dress 20 players. 18 skaters and 2 goalies.

Don’t forget to claim I-Program players, Mini Mites and Mites. Rick will need Birth certificates to verify them.

STAR/ Safesport (Carl Brogley): The Associations have 1-2 weeks to get the STAR reports done for the ones they are handling. USA Hockey was hounding us last year to get them done in a timely manner.

Financials (Carl Brogley): Remind teams to hand out financial reports monthly to their teams.

D2 put in our budget.

Ace Director (Pat Jesue): CEP Schedules listed on website. Nov 11, there will be a level 1, 2 and 3 at Little Caesars arena. All at 8am. Saturday was the D2, D3 and D4 Association Coaching Director’s Meeting and D2 only had 4 Associations represented. There is a lot of good information that is given at these meetings. Many of the people did not even know about rule changes. We need to be Associations in good standings.

Girls/Womens (Pat Jesue): Nothing to report.

One Goal (Rick Pinkowski): D2 has the lowest number of one goal grant requests. If you need help contact Rick. He will help you fill it out.

Officiating (Lori Durbin): Rick Pinkowski went over a handout regarding associations and officiating relationships. He stressed the zero tolerance policy. Associations must discuss with their coaches and this includes parents. Officials are creating a volunteer position in each district that will serve as a conduit to address officiating concerns they may have. Associations need to address the disrespect for the officials.

Adult (Bob Smith): Nothing new to report.

DAL (Bob DeSpirt): Last Saturday MAHA held a workshop for new Directors. There was a resource document created that will be posted and will be available to all Directors. Also there is a substitute goalie rule and the old substitute goalie form on the website needs to be updated and it is being worked on.

Old Business: District Playoffs only 1 bid submitted so far. State Playoff: 2 bids for house, none yet for A or AA. Make sure the status of your Board members as far as completion of required background checks and Safesport are sent to Lori Durbin.

New Business: Exceptions are done online. No paper submittals will be accepted.

District Intent is done online.

Next meeting: October 17, 2018 at Wyandotte
