Magnet Schools of America College Scholarship 2018
Background:
Magnet Schools of America (MSA) is an association that represents the 4,340 magnet schools as well as parents, families, and school district leaders nationwide. Every year, MSA hosts a national conference that offers keynote speakers, sessions on best practices, and enables educators to network with one another. This year, the city of Chicago and Chicago Public Schools will host the 36th Annual MSA National Conference. Chicago Public Schools offers a variety of specialty programs throughout the district from fine arts to IB to STEM - now it is your opportunity to share how your specialty program experience has prepared you for the future!
Description of Award:
There will be ten (10) student scholarship winners selected from across Chicago Public Schools magnet schools and programs. Each $1,000 college scholarship award is to be used toward your future college expenses, including textbooks, technology, and other related educational materials.
Scholarship Requirements:
✓Seniors graduating from a Chicago Public HighSchool-Magnet School or Magnet Program in 2018.

✓Graduate with a 3.5 unweighted GPA or above
✓Accepted to a technical, community, or four-year college/university
✓Available to receive recognition of the scholarship award during the MSA conference, April 2018
✓Due to Magnet Schools of America’s status as a non-profit organization only students with a social security number are eligible to apply for this scholarship

NOTE: Essay must be typed, double-spaced, 12 pt. Times New Roman font, with no more than 650 words.
- Two Letters of Recommendation - one from a teacher and one from an outside school recommender. Recommendations from family members or relatives will not be considered.
- Acceptance Letter – attach letter from the college/university/technical school that you will attend in 2018.
- Transcripts- attach official transcripts that show your unweighted and weighted GPA
PLEASE NOTE: If selected to receive the scholarship, you will receive the scholarship funds after you have provided a copy of your schedule for fall of 2018 to MSA.
