Start of practice session: This week line 30 is your warm up. Tizzle the note, buzz on mouthpiece/play headjoint, and then play it. Percussion, practice the MULTIPLE BOUNCE STROKES using line 23.
Lesson Book: Practice new music we will learn this week: lines 33-34, new note in line 36, and the new eighth note rhythms in line 45.
Other practicing: Music for fun, private lesson material, etc.

This week our students will spend lots of time in class practicing reading music. This is a skill that is vital to successful instrument playing. Ask your student about the musical staff, clef, time signature, and musical alphabet. We will also work on three new fundamentals: a new note, the 2/4 time signature, and playing eighth notes. Please take the time to listen to your student's practice and give them positive encouragement.

Start of practice session: Start of practice session (the WARM up): breathing exercises (sizzle line 44, play line 44 mouthpiece/headjoint and then on your instrument. PERCUSSION practice MULTIPLE BOUNCE STROKES (review line 23 and LEFT flams (line 44 ). Use a METRONOME.
NEW skill: Pick ANY note on your instrument and practice line #45 using that note.
Lesson Book: Practice new music we will learn this week: lines 45-50/ Practice ONE MEASURE at a time and with a metronome, starting each note with ‘TAH’.
Other practicing: Music for fun, private lesson material, etc.

Your students (and you, their parents!) have been invited to a special concert that will take place NEXT Friday, January 30th at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be at Lompoc’s First United Methodist Church and will feature two professional musicians, Kaori Fuji and Eric Cecil, playing duets on flute and guitar. This is a great chance to hear music in our community. I have access to up to 25 free tickes and would love to have you and our students attend. Students will receive extra credit for coming to the concert.

Han sido invitados a un concierto especial que tendrá lugar el próximo viernes, 30 de enero a 19:30 El concierto será en la Primera Iglesia Metodista Unida de Lompoc y contará con dos músicos profesionales, Kaori Fuji y Eric Cecil, tocando duetos en flauta y guitarra. Esta es una gran oportunidad de escuchar la música en nuestra comunidad. Tengo acceso a hasta 25 tickes libres y me encantaría tener usted y nuestros estudiantes asiste.
