August Pastor’s Report

August 19, 2003

† Hector DeSmet, Gayle Allbee and I have begin the jail worship services on Sundays at 6:30 pm. There is a group of 13 young men from the “G” Pod who have been waiting patiently for several months to begin the services. We have decided to base the evening service from the theme of our morning service.

† I served as the chaplain for the Pico Blanco Scout Reservation in Big Sur on Wednesdays starting July 9 and ending August 20. It was a tremendous experience.

† The Meridian Green and friends concert was a great evening. Bo Williams volunteered to work the soundboard, and although lightly attended, the artists were pleased with the hospitality and the response of the audience.

† Participated in the Pasta with the Pastors on August 9. It was a better than average turnout for this annual fundraiser for IHELP.

† Continued Bible Studies on Thursdays with the lunchbunch. Lectionary study with local clergy on Tuesdays. Participating in choir and quartet rehearsals on Wednesdays. Serving as ad hoc member to committees .

† The next Singspiration will be here in PG on September 28 at 4:30 pm. The choir has decided not to do a choir dinner in September and instead will put it’s efforts in promoting the singspiration.

† I attended the celebration of the twelve years of regional ministry by Dr. Martha A. Williams on August 16 and served as the musician for the event.

† Prayers for Chuck and Barbara Blaisdell.

† Will attend a Disciples Seminary Foundation meeting in Berkeley on September 9.

† Attended an emergency board meeting at the Yakama Christian Mission on August 4. Was interviewed by Disciples World magazine for an article about the financial situation at the mission, which was included in the bulletin for Yakama Sunday.

† Beginning to prepare for Advent. Soliciting ideas for classes or workshops during this Holy Season.
