The Lower Neches Soil and Water Conservation District (LNSWCD) Scholarships are open to seniors who are residents of Hardin County and will be graduating from any Hardin County school or accredited home school program within Hardin County. The candidate must make application to enroll in a two or a four year college or recognized trade or technical school as a full time student with a minimum of 12 hours per semester.

The LNSWCD will provide two (2) scholarships in the amount of $500.00 each. The candidates must submit their high school transcript with their present rank in class, a completed application for scholarship, a letter of recommendation, composition and a recent photo. The completed application must be returned to LNSWCD, P. O. Box 488, Kountze, TX 77625 on or before April 1, 2015.

The Directors of LNSWCD will select the seniors who will receive the scholarships and the selection will be based on academic merit, recommendations of the school and others concerning the applicant’s initiative and character, leadership, citizenship and need. Agricultural interest or major may be given consideration, but is not mandatory. Programs and services of the LNSWCD are offered on a nondiscriminatory basis without regard for race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, marital status or disability. All applications must be received on or before April 1, 2015. Recipients will be notified on or before May 14, 2015 and may be called for personal interviews and be present for presentation of scholarship certificate.

The scholarship funds will be sent to the college/university after proof of registration and payment of tuition has been submitted to the LNSWCD. It is the responsibility of the scholarship recipients to notify the LNSWCD of the correct address to send scholarship funds. Recipients of the scholarships must register and attend classes the fall semester after receiving the scholarship.
