‘Lore’ creatorAaron Mahnketo visit Main Library

Aaron Mahnke has always been fascinated by tales of the mysterious and supernatural, and as creator, writer and producer of the podcastLore, he has immersed himself in creepy folklore and legends from around the world. By delving into these stories, he often uncovers deep truths about how society views death, illness, spirituality and more. Mahnke will discuss these stories and sign copies of his new book The World of Lore: Monstrous Creatures, 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, in the Reading Garden Lounge at the Main Library.

In this beautifully illustrated volume, The World of Lore: Monstrous Creatures, Mahnkeserves as a guide on a fascinating journey through the history of these terrifying creatures, exploring not only the legends but what they tell us about ourselves. Mahnke invites us to the desolate Pine Barrens of New Jersey, where the notorious winged, red-eyed Jersey Devil dwells. He delves into harrowing accounts of cannibalism—some officially documented, others the stuff of speculation… perhaps.

In this lecture, Mahnkewill stress the importance of story-telling as a reflection of our culture and ourselves.Following the presentation, Mr. Mahnke will sign copies of his new book The World of Lore: Monstrous Creatures. Aaron Mahnke is the writer, host and producer of the podcastLore, as well as the author of a number of supernatural thrillers. He has a deep love of the mysterious and frightening that began with Unsolved Mysteries and The X-Files—alove that continues to this day. Basically, he’s a nerd for anything unexplainable or supernatural. Born and raised in Illinois, Aaron now lives with his wife and children on the historic North Shore of Boston, where he writes full-time.
