Event. Entrepreneur Summer School – Zagreb School of Economics and Management / Place : Zagreb, Croatia
Date 5th July 2012

NOTE to the file

Subject:Presentation of Ms Madi Sharma

I think the pictures say it all! It was so hot, 35 degrees that we held the class outside on the grass!

I gave a presentation to the students on our work in the EESC on entrepreneurship and from my personal experience. There was a great debate afterwards, with a key focus on the gender perspective in policy making in the EU. The students were very challenging and happy to be included in our consultations.

I promoted the INT 519 report on Entrepreneurship as a mechanism to exit the crisis and the SOC 466 report on female entrepreneurship as both hold relevance for Croatia’s growth as they join the EU. The Employers Group commitment to Young European Entrepreneurs in support of creating jobs and innovation was well received. It is great to see the changing mind-sets of the young people towards the value of entrepreneurship – hopefully Croatian policy makers will also recognise this value soon.

I have promised to forward the EC Entrepreneurship Act 2020 which will be out for consultation and the School of Economics and NESsT will submit their contributions.

Thank you for visiting with us at ZSEM during Summer School. I think it was such a special rapport and the students were more open to listening to your heart to heart than I have seen them with other speakers. I do hope we can continue cooperation.”

Tina Lee Odinsky-Zec, BSc, MSc, PhD (Candidate)

Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and CRM

Zagreb School of Economics and Management

I took advantage of being in Zagreb to follow up with other stakeholders in Zagreb, UMIS, HUMP who we have worked with previously on entrepreneurship and who are also working with OECD and the Commission on the subject. I also gave a second lecture the following day. The participants included young entrepreneurs and teacher representatives but also ministry representatives from tourism, local communities and the ministry taking care of NGOs. All have asked for a greater collaboration with EESC.

This is why I love representing the EESC and going beyond the opinions we write ! Thank you for giving me the opportunity.
