MONOPOLY 2016 FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIPS
Rules
Hasbro Contes de Provence are organizing Monopoly 2016 French Championships Saturday 3rdsunday4th december 2016 in thePalais du Jeu et du Jouet (Games & toys convention) atthe Palais des Congrès Neptunein Toulon (France).
At stake : 2016 french championtitle & trophypassed by the reigning 2015 champ, Hasbro games, Monopoly games for the top 32.
I Conditions:free open for Palais du Jeu et du Jouet ticket holders (french champion will be the 1st ranked french player, the French champion title, trophy and gifts will be awarded to the 1st ranked french)
II Rules:
4 players 1 hour games for Saturday qualification gamesand Sunday’s quarter and semi-finals, with random banker among the players, 1 hour and a half for the final (banker supplied by the organizers).
Numberofplayers accepted in the tournament : unlimited on 8 simultaneous tables, referees are allowed to play if players are missing, top 32 qualifiedfor Sunday games.
Speed diceused (to speed up the game and shorten playing time)
Rules reminders:
The order of play is random (use two dices to decide who goes first then next player left to the 1stand so on)
You can purchase during the first turn
You may build, sell, trade during your turn or between turns (not during another player’s turn, especially between dice rolls further to a double)
Any non purchased property is auctioned (the player who just decided not to buy may join the auction)
Any rent or tax must be paid immediately (nodelay, no lease…)
Rent are received even if you are in jail
Houses are soldat half their cost to the bank
You can’t have a house on a property of another property of the set is mortgaged
Railway stations rent are due depending of the number of owned property when you land on a non-mortgaged one, even if others are mortgaged
Houseless property rents are doubled if you own the full set, even if another is mortgaged or has houses or hotel.
You need 4 houses to build a hotel, there can be a shortage of houses to sell, in case of houses wanted by more than 1 player, they are auctioned.
If a player is bankrupted by a card or a tax, his properties are immediately auctioned
If a player is bankrupted on another player’s property, his houses and hotel are sold to the bank and all his properties and money are given to the other player. Mortgaged properties must immediately either be unmortgaged or the player must pay 10% of each unmortgage cost..
Out of jail: when a player goes to jail because of a card, Go to Jail or three doubles (with the classic dices), his turn stops immediately (you don’t check where he should have land or if he would have passed GO). Starting next turn, he has 3 choices: pay50 to get out of jail immediately and play his 2 dices (or 3 dices), try a double with 2 dices (in case of double, he gets out of jail but doesn’t throw the dices again), play a Get out of Jail card and play his 2 (or 3) dices. If he is not out of jail after 3 turns, he must pay 50 if still no double, card played or did pay before the dice roll.
Speed dice (if no speed dice available, a third dice with a different color from the orthers will be provided) :
Once GO passed, play with the speed dice (or 3rd different dice):
If 1, 2 or 3: add to the total of the two other dices (you can move from 2 to 15 spaces), doubles only count with the other dices. In case of triple (thus triple 1, 2 or 3), move to the space of your choice (collect if you pass GO)and do not play again.
If Mister Monopoly (4 or 5 with the 3rd dice):
If there is still a least a property to buy, move the number of spaces of the two dices, pay, buy, draw a card, depending of the space then (unless you land on Go to Jail or throw your 3rd double) move towards the next available property,you may buy it. Thus you can buy up to 5 properties in one turn.
If there is no property left to buy, move the number of spaces of the two dices, pay, buy, draw a card, depending of the space then (unless you land on Go to Jail or throw your 3rd double), move towards the next property where you pay a rent to a player (so unmortgaged)
If Get out of the bus early (or6 with 3rd dice), you may «get out of the busearly»: move the number of spaces of the two dices, or of one of the two dices (examples : 3 and 4, you may move 3, 4 or 7 spaces. double 5, move 5 or 10 spaces, thenplay again!)
(a few house rules not used during the tournament, as non official :
You don’t collect 400 for landing on GO
You don’t pay taxes or cards to the Free Parking…it’s only a Free Parking!)
Any cheat (stolen notes, stalling (slowdown the game), remind someone he can collect a rent, trade or gift against your own interests (no “family” or team play allowed), unsportsmanlike conduct…) will be prosecuted with immediate firing of the player out of the tournament by the head-judge.
Quick advice: play quickly, to have fun and win!!!! The purpose of the game is not to be the most popular or rich but to bankrupt the other players as fast as possible, to get points to qualify for the quarter then semi then final then be the next french champion (cf. points awarded in the qualification games hereafter) !

Qualifications rules:
Saturday: qualifications
Saturday games points are cumulated. The 32 best points totalare qualifiedfor Sunday’s quaterfinals.
Your rank at the end of each game will be registered by a referee. Any player left at the end must calculate his total money (notes, houses and hotels for their value, propertiesfor their purchase value, mortgaged properties for their mortgaged value) and will be ranked accordingly. The ranking (1st, 2nd, 3rd ou 4th) will grant a certain number of points, see hereafter.

Sunday:
Quarter and semifinals tables will be formed randomly (only exception, you won’t play the semifinals against players you play with in the quarterfinals).
In case of missing player(s), the game will be played with 3 or 2 players. If only one player is available, he wins the game.
If a player misses the kickoff of a game, he is declared out of the tournament.
The game’s outcome is registered by a referee.
Qualification for the semifinalsis granted to the first 2 players of each table. The game ends before the time limit when there is only 2 players left. If there is more than two players left at the end of the game, each player left must calculate his total money (notes, houses and hotels for their value, propertiesfor their purchase value, mortgaged properties for their mortgaged value) and will be ranked accordingly. The ranking (1st, 2nd, 3rd ou 4th) will decide which two players qualify for the semifinals.
Qualification for the final will be granted to each winner of the 4 semifinal tables. . The game ends before the time limit when there is only 1 player left. If there is more than one player left at the end of the game, each player left must calculate his total money (notes, houses and hotels for their value, propertiesfor their purchase value, mortgaged properties for their mortgaged value) and will be ranked accordingly. The ranking (1st, 2nd, 3rd ou 4th) will decide who is the 2016 Monopoly french champion. If the 1st ranked is not French, the 1st ranked French is the 2016 Monopoly french champion and gets the champions awards (title, trophy, gifts…). If no French is in the final, a French championship table is arranged at the same time as the tournament final game among the 4 best semi-finalists, using the ranks in the table or total money if needed.
