Here’s what has been happening in 4th grade this week:

·  Reading: We continued reading Sign of the Beaver and took an ANET test.

·  Writing & Grammar: Kids are finishing up a rough draft of an essay that they will begin typing up next week. We again worked on using quotations marks in writing.

·  Math: We worked on multiplying fractions by whole numbers and kids took an ANET test.

·  Social Studies & Science: Our short week kept us from switching for these classes, but we did begin practicing the song “Sister Rosa” which we plan to sing at the Black History Month program next Thursday, February 25th.

IN OTHER NEWS…

* All students should have brought home a book jacket for their written response to the biography that they chose to read for the famous black American project. I have instructed the children to do a rough draft first and correct their mistakes before they complete their book jacket.

* Because the students took their ANET unit tests this week, we will not be completing Data Folders. I will get everyone up to date at the conference!

*We plan to take the metro bus to the White House on March 17th, so we need each kid to come to school with a SmarTrip card that day loaded with about $5. If your child has a DCOne card, that will work as well.

*Each child has a typing agent account. They have all the log-in information in their Friday Folders and they should be doing agent lessons to improve their keyboarding skills.
