BEST Plus Test Administrator Training

Description: The BEST Plus is an individually administered face-to-face oral interview designed to assess the English language proficiency of adult English language learners. It assesses interpersonal conversational communication using everyday English. The BEST Plus Training Workshop prepares participants to administer and score the test by providing an overview of the development and purpose of the test, opportunities to practice delivery and scoring, and clarification of administration and scoring issues. Participants will recognize the importance of assessing oral language proficiency and be able to administer and score the test and interpret BEST Plus scores. Pre-registration is required. ALIES Data Entry – New Format

Description: This newly formatted one-day training provides a comprehensive introduction to the ALIES data entry process. Highlights include: Navigation of ALIES data entry screens, Upgrading ALIES and Backing up data, Inputting students, classes and instructors, and Updating outcomes, tests and contact hours. Grant Writing Workshop

Description: Whether an experienced grant writer hoping to brush up on skills, or no experience with grant writing, this workshop will teach the fundamentals of grant writing and securing funding. This course will give the participant the basic elements of grant writing; which will enable them to identify potential funding sources and develop the skills they need to create a potentially effective grant proposal. The participant will learn how to research and write proposals including: how to identify grant writing terms; how to identify potential sources of funding and grants information; the difference between governmental agencies, foundation and corporate proposals; how to initially approach a funder; the essential components of a grant proposal package.
