Navigating IES for External Users

Logging In to IES Using Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi Factor Authentication will be used to log into IES for agencies outside of the state of Illinois’ firewall. This additional log-In step further protects the privacy of the customer’s information and increases the security of the Integrated Eligibility System. This also aligns the state’s system with guidelines used and mandated by the federal government.

When your Agency applied for access to IES, completed the application process, and became an approved user, all individual information for staff at your agency was uploaded to IES. This included name and ID from BCCS Identity Management (BIM), and contact information including email and phone number. This process offers another way we protect private information in the Integrated Eligibility System.

Below is the first screen you will see in IES. You will enter the password you chose and the user name you were given when you obtained your external ID through the BCCS Identity Management (BIM) website. When you obtained your ID (Username) you were also told what ‘Domain’ you would access IES through. This page will have additional instructions for users from SPS and External domains on how to enter their user ID.

The first time you log in to IES, you will also have to register your email address. This should be the same email you used when you submitted your IES access request. You will only see this screen the first time you log into IES. Follow the steps on the screen to activate your email address.

Next, you will see the following screen. This screen will appear every time after you enter your Username and Password on the IES ‘Worker Portal’ Screen.

  1. Go to your email address on record and retrieve the access code that has been sent to you by IES
  2. Enter this code in the box labeled ‘Access Code’
  3. Click on the “Next button”
  4. You willthen be logged in and taken to the Homepage or ‘Dashboard’ in IES.

Remember the access code will only be valid for 10 minutes! Also, if you are inactive for 15 minutes, you will need to repeat the above process to log back into IES. To prevent being logged out, click on the screen or perform an action.
