Business arising from previous minutes:

It was resolved that:

  1. The focus of LFG at 2015 LEAF will be “Contribution and Connection” - display banner concept.Action Trinette Huston (from previous minutes but not on today’s agenda)
  2. Liason with LEAF organisers:
  3. LFG has sent an expression of interest for a 6m x 6m area. If this is granted will require 6 x 3m gazebo borrow from 2014 (this has been arranged for loan by mary Perryn) and Julie Graham has a2.8m x 2.8mwhite gazebo to complement LFG 3 x 3m
  4. Lyn Buffett has contacted Rebecca Condon from LEAF re LFG composting vegetable scraps from the festival
  5. Display boards will be needed (supplied by LEAF)This has not been confirmed. Action: Lyn Buffett
  6. Trinette has arranged for a Bin for vegetable scraps to be available at LFG stall
  7. 200gsm paper is available for $18.00 for 500. Gabi Duffy will purchase and seek free printing from Officeworks.Will require 500 more leaflets to be printed. Action: Gabi Duffy
  8. RaewynBlomfield has been trained by Lyn and is managing the links to related websites on LFG facebook page.
  9. Re seed packets to be sold at LEAF: Trinette Huston sourced some prices for bulk seeds from Eden Seeds. Claire Bourke has a contact with this company and will see if a discount can be arranged. Trinette will also seek prices for bulk seeds from Green Harvest. $40.00 as budget for these seeds. Trinette has asked members to contribute seeds and help with packaging and will arrange a ‘seed packing’ working bee. . Action: Trinette Huston and Claire Bourke..
  10. Trinette Huston put out a call for seedlings from members to start growing from early March to sell at LEAF. Response has been slow. Lyn Buffett had the idea of sourcing small seedlings from High Sun. These tiny seedlings can then be replanted. Lyn will clarify price. If these seedlings for sale at LEAF, then it must be acknowledged that they aren’t from LFG members. Action: Trinette Huston , Lyn Buffett
  11. Roster coordinator for LEAF volunteers to be Angie Hill.
  12. Roster templates to be emailed by Trinette Huston and Louise Staunton to Angie Hill. Includes: set up day prior, set up on day, seedling sales, raffle selling, pack up. Action: Trinette Huston, Louise Staunton and Angie Hill.
  13. Information sheet for volunteers re different roles and what is to be expected. Action: Angie Hill and Lyn Buffett
  14. One more garden visit, to Peter Vicars’ home so during that volunteering at LEAF to be promoted. - Action: LFG members at garden visit
  15. Demonstrations at LEAF to be focussed on theme of “Contribution and Connection”
  16. Require a larger sign to advertise the demonstrations. The white board with stand to be used. Believe this is stored at Louise Staunton’s home
  17. Confirmed topics and presenters: “Beginner Food Gardening” - Emma-Shae Dawson, “Easy to grow, abundant sub tropical food plants” - Lyn Buffett, Microgreens and Sprouts by Chris Downes, and Aquaponics by Peter Vicars.
  18. To increase audience participation, e.g. fact sheets to take away, taste microgreens .Action: presenters

  20. Problem of seedlings toppling over in plastic bags and 2015 being plastic bag free.
  21. Brown paper bags will be used, as LEAF 2015 is plastic bag free. Sturdy, recycled bags available in two sizesfromOfficeworks for around 10cents each. These bags are sturdy enough not to require any further support on bottom. Mary Perryn to purchase 100 of each size. Action: Mary Perryn

  23. Gardening implements, worm farms, fruit trees examples of popular items
  24. Tickets $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00.
  25. Raffle ticket sellers to be part of the roster, Gabi Duffy has volunteered . Action: Angie Hill
  26. Daisy Hill Hardware have donated 3 items to the value of about $20.00, Julie Graham will approach Plants Plus, and Neilsons Native Nursery Action: Julie Graham
  27. Mary Perryn has arranged with Bunnings, Kingston Road Underwood for a 1st and 2nd prize to be picked up prior to LEAF. Norma Ensor has also agreed to donate some garden tools as part of the first prize. These prizes will be advertised on LFG website . Action: Mary Perryn
  1. Table cloths need to cover front of table as well as top. Idea of purchasing queen size flat sheets in ‘pea green’ colour. To be priced from Spotlight who are currently having a sale. Action: Julie Graham
  2. Hay bales to be used again. Lyn Buffett has some. Action: Lyn Buffett.
  3. Signage:
  4. blackboard signs used in 2014 were are great success.
  5. Sticky blackboard contact can be purchased for $4.00/roll. Used with special pens Action Lyn Buffett (from previous minutes but not on today’s agenda)
  6. Suggest larger signs for pricing using blackboard contact with coloured popsicles for each seedling. Prices to be colour coded and noted on the signs.Action Lyn Buffett (from previous minutes but not on today’s agenda)
  7. Set up:
  8. LFG has 2 folding tables; RaewynBlomfield will supply a table. Action: RaewynBlomfield.
  9. Colouring in pages to be available to give out to children at LEAF.
  10. Mary Perrynpresented a colouring in page which will be put on the website Action: Mary Perryn
  11. Mary Perryn to email Lyn Buffett the page and Lyn will arrange to have a link on website for members to print out for a children’s colouring in competition. Prizes have been sourced suitable for a preschooler and an early primary school child. Mary Perryn will arrange photos of prizes to be advertised. Colouring in can be displayed at LEAF with a prize for the winner . Action: Lyn Buffett
  12. Hats,vests and lanyards:

  14. As not everyone wears a LFG green cap, idea of a hat band with LFG embroidery to be available Lyn Buffett to send the logo to Julie Graham who will cost this idea. Action: Lyn Buffett and Julie Graham
