WHY:

At the end of each important chemical safety project Slovenia traditionally organizes a meeting with broad national and international participation. The goals are allways to present the outputs of the project, exchange experiences among participants and countries, give opportunity for development of new ideas and common strategies, and through this to stimulate overall development of chemical safety in this part of Europe.

This time the meeting is a final step of an intensive project Phare Twinning Chemical Safety which was financed by European Commission. Main twinning partners Austria and Slovenia with about 40 short term experts from 10 EU Member States worked together in areas such as classification, packaging, labelling, safety data sheet, notification of new chemicals, risk assessment of new and existing chemicals, risk management decision making, biocides, good laboratory practice, chemical accidents, waste chemicals, safety and health at work with chemicals, development of toxicology/ecotoxicology, integrated chemicals inspection, monitoring of chemicals pollution (e.g. of pesticides in drinking water) and testing of packagings for dangerous goods. The results of these efforts will be presented at the meeting.
