Elk Point, S.D. – State’s Attorney Jerry A. Miller said today that Chad Gotch, 34, McCook Lake, SD, plead guilty on September 13, 2010, in the 1st Circuit Court, in Union County, to one count of receiving stolen property, a class 4 felony. The maximum sentence on this charge is 10 years in the Penitentiary and or $20,000. Today’s plea stems from the November 12, 2009 burglary of the Dunes Eye Consultant business in Dakota Dunes.
Chad Gotch was also sentenced on September 13, 2010, following his plea of guilt. Gotch was sentenced to eight years concurrent to the time he was sentenced to by the State of Iowa. Gotch was also required to pay monetary obligations in the amount of $1,641.80, in Court Costs, Prosecution Costs, and Court Appointed Attorney Fees. Gotch was returned to the state of Iowa until he completes his sentence obligations there and then transported to the state of South Dakota to complete his obligations here.
Chad Gotch and his brother, Larry Goctch, were caught and arrested together with the computer from Dunes Eye Consultant’s when law enforcement officers arrested the brothers in Iowa for a spree of strip mall burglaries in the Tri-State area. Both Gotch brothers were convicted in Iowa for similar offenses. Both Gotch brothers have yet to address their charges in Nebraska. This Case was investigated by Chief Deputy Mike Bucholz of the Union County Sherriff’s Office.
