LMHA is helping to fund the Smoketown Community Engagement Mapping process lead by the Network Center for Community Change (NC3). Below are some details and dates provided by NC3 on how you can become part of this process (sorry one of the walk dates has already passed this week).

Mapping walks are an opportunity to connect to Smoketown and be a part of creating a concrete visual of the neighborhood. These walks include a training on how to collect applicable information on housing parcels. A new addition to our walk training is mini-network orientation which details what NC3 (Network Center for Community Change) does in the urban core of Louisville in partnership with our 4,800 member base.

By connecting with the people who know the neighborhood best- the people who live there- and experiencing the neighborhood, Community Engagement Mapping is a great way to get involved in housing and community development.

Map review meetings are organized to have a bigger conversation about the maps created by community members during the mapping walks. Community members, housing professionals, activists and politicians come together to ask and answer powerful questions about the maps and develop next steps for projects and opportunities within the neighborhood. One conversation is held for each map section, and a wrap-up meeting is scheduled to have a conversation about the Smoketown Neighborhood as a whole.

Property research trainings are a hands-on opportunity to learn more about how to navigate the sometimes daunting websites with public data about property in the Louisville Metro area. Attendees are encouraged to bring an address of a parcel/property they are interested in learning more about to have a richer experience at the training.
