PROCEDURE TO DETERMINE THE ELIGIBLE PLAYOFF TEAMS

In the event that teams are tied for a playoff position, the following tie-breaking procedure will apply.

NOTE: In the event where more than two teams are tied, the tie breaking sequence will apply until the tie is broken, (i.e. one or more teams are eliminated from the tie). Once one or more teams are eliminated from the tie and two or more teams are still tied, the procedure reverts back to (1).

  1. The result of a round robin game involving the tied teams will apply. In the event two teams are tied, the winner of the round robin game between those teams will qualify for the higher standing position. If three teams are tied, the point record established in the games between the tied teams shall be used as the first tie-breaking formula in deciding the standings. The team with the best points record will qualify for the highest standing position.
  2. If teams were still tied after (1), then the team with the most wins would qualify for the highest standing position.
  3. If teams are still tied after (1) and (2) have been applied, then the team with the best goal average will qualify. The goal average of the team is to be determined in the following manner: total number of goals for divided by the total number of goals for and against.

For example, total goals for = 10 total goals against = 4

Percentage = 10 = 10 = .714

------

10 + 4 14

  1. If the teams are still tied after (1). (2), and (3), the team to qualify will be the team, which scored the quickest goal in the games among the teams.
  2. If the teams were still tied after (1), (2), (3) and (4), the team to qualify would be the team that received the least minutes in penalties during the round robin schedule.
  3. If teams are still tied after all previous methods have been applied, the higher rank will be determined by a single toss of a coin.

The Tournament Committee reserves the right to change at its discretion any rules regarding the tournament and disciplinary decisions.
