Community Tour At least once a year a group of Councillors go around our Community looking at various issues that may be of concern. Some items that came up when we went around on Saturday15th October are; - In Llanmadoc we agreed to place a “Pedestrians in Road sign” beside the Horse Chestnut tree on Quoits Green. In order to indicate the potential danger on this blind corner, for those by the Church and walkers both in Hills lane and down to Cwm Ivy. We noted some blocked gulleys that will be reported to Swansea for clearance. We proposed to have one cut of the grass next year (before the Open Gardens weekend) as the animals seem to be keeping the grass down. We agreed to the cutting back the vegetation behind Llanmadoc Hall in order to maintain a Firebreak there. Signs of Knotweed beside the Hall seems to have been successfully eradicated. In Burry Green we agreed to seek advice on cutting the hedges back this year. We agreed to cost repairing the unofficial lay by near the bus shelter. One consideration here may be to provide an area for say 5/8 cars that would assist both Chapel users and walkers. A dedicated parking area may stop the continued erosion of the Green on both sides of the road. We noted the damaged Burry Green sign and also a proposal by BT to remove the telephone box in Burry Green: - Do you have any views on this? In Llangennith we looked at the well area and it was thought that it would be good to improve this feature in the middle of the village. It was not decided whether this would need to be work contracted or whether some community action with volunteers would be the better way to tackle the job:-would you be interested in helping?:- could you provide some large stones that could be used? In Cock Street we noted the erosion of the highway near the green at Ty Flo and that the verge opposite this, is overgrowing the road. We agreed to report this as a task to Swansea C&C, along with photographs of the area.

Thanks go to Rhodri Lloyd for making up the area around our plinth on Llanmadoc Hill. The erosion could be due to the number of visitors viewing the locations and the distances but by the look of the lanolin on the rocks many animals are also using it as a convenient scratching stone.

Next meeting is at Llanmadoc Hall 7.30pm on Wednesday 2nd November.
