Grayson Perry & Martin Parr - Art in Action on Wednesday 7th March 2018

I am writing to inform you about an exciting opportunity for our Art and Photography A Level students to participate in.

On Wednesday 7th March 2018 the students have been invited to meet prestigious artists. In this exciting and visually stimulating programme, students will meet and learn from four leading internationally recognised artists working in different areas. Fromceramic art to textiles and photography, this day will provide variety, innovation and the chance to hear how ideas become art. The day will be chaired byRebecca Wright, Programme Director of Graphic Communication Design at Central Saint Martins.

About Grayson Perry

Turner Prize-winner Grayson Perry’s work is original and provocative. Heuses traditional forms such as ceramics and tapestries in unconventional ways to comment on injustice, hypocrisy,consumer culture, creativity, taste and class.

Grayson Perry will talk about his work and consider how to be creativein an age which embracesboth traditional and digital approachesto art.

About Martin Parr

Magnum photographer Martin Parr isconsidered one of this country’s leading photographers. While his photographs are highly original and entertaining, they also reflect how we present ourselves and what we value.

Martin will talk about his approach as a photographer and students will be able to see for themselves how he uses seduction and humour to comment on the human condition.

The programme will take place at Logan Hall, Institute of education, Bedford Way, London, WC1H 0AL and will be from 11am-4pm. Students will meet in school and travel together with their teacher. They will be dismissed from London with letters of permission with prior agreement, or they will be expected to travel back to school with a member of staff.

If you are unable to pay online, please contact the Finance Office so that a unique Payment Barcode can be issued for you to pay cash at a local Paypoint ( for this trip.

Students will be able to meet the criteria for assessment objective 1 in their A Level studies and will be expected to document their visit and write about what they have learnt.

Students must ensure that their oyster card has money to travel in and out of London. Please ensure that reply slips are returned to Miss Holmes no later than 19th February so that places can be finalised with the course organisers.
