This site allows you to compute salary equivalencies in terms of purchasing between two different cities. For example, suppose you earn $60,000 in Flint, Michigan, and you are considering a job offer of $68,000 in Rochester, New York. Is this a good move? The calculator indicates that "if you make $ 60,000 in Flint then you would need to make $ 69,618 in Rochester." In other words, this move does not provide a significant increase in the purchasing power of your income.
