  1. Mission Statement

Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is a multi-campus, comprehensive institution serving a diverse population through lifelong education. Our mission focuses on student needs in an open-door setting. Supporting the value of student development, our programs strive to offer opportunities to students that develop leadership skills and promote responsibility while maintaining a balance between personal, professional and academic pursuits.

  1. Membership

Membership is required to use the Lifetime Activities Center facilities. Membership privileges include use of all activity areas in the LAC during scheduled hours. Individuals must present a valid OneCard ID card to enter Campus Recreation facilities.

Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled fee paying SLCC students have automatic membership to the LAC. Students must present their valid OneCard to enter the facility.
  • Guest with a photo I.D. may use the LAC for $2.00 per day.
  • SLCC Employees have free membership.
  • Alumni are defined as anyone who has received a certificate or a diploma from SLCC.
  • Salt Lake Community College Retirees must have approval from SLCC Human Recourse Department with proof of retirement.

  1. Campus Recreation Services
  1. Equipment Checkout

Available equipment may be checked out with a valid SLCC OneCard or Driver’s License. Users are responsible for all equipment and must reimburse for lost or damaged items. Equipment rental Form is required for and all checkouts. Check-out and Check-in are only available during normal posted operating hours.

  1. Towels

Towel service is available during building hours and requires ID for collateral.

  1. Student Locker Rooms
  • Users must use lockers for their own personal items. Work out rooms or hallways are not usable space and are not storage areas. Personal items may not be given to LAC staff. Any unattended items will be collected and a $2.00 fee will be assessed to retrieve items.
  • Long lockers are for day use only. Items left on or in long lockers overnight will result in the locks being cut and contents removed. A $2.00 fee will assessed to retrieve items. Items left longer than two weeks will be turned into College Lost & Found.
  • Students registered for a HLAC classes can be issued a small locker for the semester at no charge at the Recreation Desk. All other students will be charged $4.00 fee for the semester. All lockers must be cleared out at the end of each semester. Items left will be cleared, stored(up to 2 weeks and then turned into College Lost & Found) and the owner will charged a $2.00 fee will assessed to retrieve items.
  • Guest, Alumni, Community users may use the general locker room for day use only.
  • All lockers require the user to provide their own lock.
  1. Staff & Faculty Locker Rooms
  • Staff & Faculty has access to independent locker rooms.
  • It is the responsibility of the Staff & Faculty to obtain a PROX Card for access to locker rooms.
  • Staff & Faculty may not bring outside guest into locker rooms.
  • Staff & Faculty may use the locker room for day use only.
  • Lockers are available for rent. Long locker is $ 25.00 per year and a short locker is $ 15.00 per year. Rental is from August to August, rate will be prorated per month.
  • Any belongings left overnight without a rental agreement will result in the locks being cut and items removed. A $2.00 fee will assessed to retrieve items. Items left longer than two weeks will be turned into College Lost & Found.

The LAC, LAC Staff or Salt Lake Community College is not responsible for theft in these facilities. It is recommended that you do not leave valuables such as jewelry, wallets, iPods, credit cards, etc. in lockers. Don't forget to lock your locker.

  1. Lost and Found

Lost and found items, if returned to the LAC REC desk, are kept for two weeks. After two weeks lost and found items will be turned into CollegeLost and Found. Items are then subject to CollegeLost and Foundpolicy and procedure. The LAC and LAC Staff are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

  1. General Facility Procedure
  • Accidents and injuries can and do occur during sport, recreation and exercise activities. Notice is hereby given that Salt Lake Community College is not responsible for accidents, injuries, and/or illness that may occur while on and/or during the use of Community College property; nor is the Community College responsible for any costs or expenses incurred as a result of any accident and/or injury that may occur on Salt Lake Community College property. Users understand and agree that their uses of Community College facilities and/or services are at their own risk.
  • Campus recreation facilities are controlled access facilities. No one will be permitted into activity areas without a valid OneCard ID card.
  • Use of another individual's OneCard ID card to attempt to gain access to the LAC facilities is not permitted. The misused OneCard ID card will be turned over to the OneCard ID office and access to the LAC facilities will be denied until the individual has set up a meeting with a full-time staff member. The individual attempting to use the false ID will not be allowed access until an appropriate ID card is provided.
  • Age limits for participation at LAC
  • Main Gym- must be at least 12 years of age and accompanied by legal guardian
  • Racquetball Courts- must be at least 12 years of age and accompanied by legal guardian
  • Fitness & Strength Rooms- must be at least 16 years of age and accompanied by legal guardian
  • Indoor Track- must be at least 12 years of age and accompanied by legal guardian
  • Acceptable rules of conduct must be observed at all times. Campus Recreation employees reserve the right to remove any patron(s) who are participating in behavior deemed reckless, improper or unsafe in our facilities.
  • Users of the facilities are subject to the immediate removal from the facility for interfering with employee duties or engaging in disorderly conduct, including the use of foul language, verbal abuse, and threatened or actual physical abuse of an employee(s) and/or other user(s). If the user is asked to leave, they must meet with the coordinator of the Lifetime Activates Center and or Dean of Students before their access will be reinstated.
  • Clothing and shoes appropriate to the activity are required in all areas of the Lifetime Activities Center. Shirts/Tank tops and athletic closed toed shoes must be worn in all areas of the LAC. Street clothes or shoes are not permitted in any activity area.
  • Prohibited work out shoes includes: sandals, slippers, street shoes, waffle shoes, hiking shoes, and boots or any shoe that marks the floors.
  • Prohibited work out clothing includes: pants with rivets, hard seams, pockets, buttons, zippers, Levis, anything that will damage equipment and upholstery.
  • LAC Procedure is in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, pertaining to Inappropriate Dress Policy. This Procedure states: Expectations relative to student appearance are high. Attire that interferes with the teaching and learning environment may be addressed by a faculty and/or staff member while on College property or a College sponsored event. For health and safety reasons, students should dress in a manner that does not unreasonably disrupt, adversely affect or otherwise interfere with a class or activity. For example: shoes are required indoors while on campus.
  • No food is allowed in gym area. Food is allowed in lobby area only.
  • No pets allowed, unless is used in the aid of persons with disabilities.
  • Soliciting and or selling of products is not allowed in or around LAC. Unless prior arrangements have been made.
  • The use of combative weapons is prohibited.
  1. Alcohol, Drug, Tobacco and Firearm Policy

No alcohol, illegal substance, tobacco in any form, and/or weapons ispermitted in any SLCC facilities. See SLCC Policy & Procedure #C2S03.14. LAC Staff reserves the right to eject participants or spectators suspected of being under the influence or in possession of any of the above listed. Campus security may be contacted.

  1. Main Gym Procedure
  • All injuries are to be reported to LAC Staff on duty, first aid will be applied and proper forms will be completed. In case of medical emergency LAC staff is AED/CPR trained, emergency services will be displaced in all instances. 911 may be called.
  • In the event of an emergency user will be asked to evacuate facility.
  • Users of the main gym are prohibited from hanging on nets and/or rims and are subject to removal if not compliant.
  • LAC perimeter curtains are only to be moved by LAC Staff.
  • Users are prohibited from bouncing, hitting or throwing any equipment on gym walls.
  • Users must wear proper athletic closed toe nonmarking shoes while in the LAC gym. Prohibited work out shoes includes: sandals, slippers, street shoes, waffle shoes, hiking shoes, and boots. A $25.00 cleaning fee may be assessed to non-compliant user.
  • LAC Procedure is in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, pertaining to Inappropriate Dress Policy. See SLCC Code of Conduct page 17 paragraph 6.
  • Bikes, Skateboards, rollerblades are not allowed.
  • LAC administration oversees scheduling and usage of facility. The LAC holds the right to prohibit any activities they deem unsuitable for the facility

Any damages caused will be the responsibility of the user for replacement or repair and/or legal action taken.

  1. Racquetball Procedure
  • Users must wear proper athletic closed toe nonmarking shoes while in while in racquetball courts. Prohibited work out shoes includes: sandals, slippers, street shoes, waffle shoes, hiking shoes, and boots. A $25.00 cleaning fee may be assessed to non-compliant user.
  • LAC Procedure is in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, pertaining to Inappropriate Dress Policy. See SLCC Code of Conduct page 17 paragraph 6.
  • Eye guard is strongly recommended while participating at this facility. Use at your own risk.
  • Users may call into the LAC Recreation Desk to reserve a court the same day or one day ahead. If court reservation is not claimed by 10 minutes after the reserved time the court will be relinquished.
  • Users under the age of 18 may not make court reservations.
  • HLAC classes have priority over all courts and supersede reservations made.
  • All injuries are to be reported to LAC Staff on duty, first aid will be applied and proper forms will be completed. In case of medical emergency LAC staff is AED/CPR trained, emergency services will be displaced in all instances.
  1. Fitness & Strength Room Procedure
  • No unauthorized personal training is allowed. Any appearance of personal training occurring and patrons will be asked to leave the facility.
  • Street clothes or shoes are not permitted in any activity area. Athletic Court shoes only.
  • Clothing and shoes appropriate to the activity are required in all areas of the Lifetime Activities Center. Shirts/Tank tops and athletic closed toed shoes must be worn in all areas of the LAC. Street clothes or shoes are not permitted in any activity area.
  • LAC Procedure is in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, pertaining to Inappropriate Dress Policy. See SLCC Code of Conduct page 17 paragraph 6.
  • Prohibited work out shoes includes: sandals, slippers, street shoes, waffle shoes, hiking shoes, and boots.
  • Prohibited work out clothing includes: pants with rivets, hard seams, pockets, buttons, zippers, Levis, anything that will damage equipment and upholstery.

  • Personal listening devices can only be used with headsets. LAC staff controls the radio station and audible levels in fitness and strength room.
  • Users must re-rack used free weights and plates.
  • Users must wipe down equipment after each use.
  • HLAC classes have priority and users are subject to changes in open times.
  1. Indoor Track Procedure
  • Clothing and shoes appropriate to the activity are required in all areas of the Lifetime Activities Center. Shirts/Tank tops and athletic closed toed shoes must be worn in all areas of the LAC. Street clothes or shoes are not permitted in any activity area.
  • LAC Procedure is in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, pertaining to Inappropriate Dress Policy. See SLCC Code of Conduct page 17 paragraph 6.
  • Prohibited work out shoes includes: sandals, slippers, street shoes, waffle shoes, hiking shoes, and boots. $ 25.00 cleaning charge may be assessed for minor damage.
  • All injuries are to be reported to LAC Staff on duty, first aid will be applied and proper forms will be completed. In case of medical emergency LAC staff is AED/CPR trained, emergency services will be displaced in all instances.
  • Users must adhere to posted indoor track rules
  • HLAC classes have priority and users are subject to changes in open times.
  1. Photo/Video Procedure
  • Prior approval by the LAC Coordinator or Auxiliary Services Director must be granted for any type of photography or video to be conducted in the LAC.
  • Photographer and or videographer must receive signed permission from users to photograph or video.
  1. Survey Procedure
  • No surveys other than those conducted by Auxiliary Services Department are permitted in the LAC.
