Specific Aims for this Conference:
This conference is for the leaders of School Library Services and Public Library Services for Children & Young People. It will explore the role:
v That SLS’s can play in supporting their school communities in creating active citizens and working together to ensure a strong, united voice for UK Schools Library Services
v That Public Library Services can play in creating socially engaged communities of children & young people
General Conference Aims:
v Learning from best practice
v Exploring the current strategic landscape
v Generating innovative solutions to respond to new ways of thinking
v Equipping delegates with the tools and information to support development and delivery of quality services
v Providing opportunities for networking
There will be separate Children’s Library Service & SLS workshops/ seminars on Saturday from which delegates can select the two they wish to attend.
There will be a publisher’s exhibition, giving delegates the opportunity to see key children’s books to be published in 2017. A reading bag of key children’s titles being published in 2016/17 will also be provided for all delegates

The Hotel website gives a good description of rooms and facilities. There are
also good directions. Nearest station is East Midlands Parkway which is
probably about 2/3 miles away and the hotel do offer a pick up service from
there or could easily get a taxi. It’s on the St Pancras to Sheffield line – East
Midlands Trains service.
