CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

All homework, classwork, quizzes, and tests must be done in PENCIL ONLY!!!

Five points will be deducted from the final grade of an assignment if pencil is not used. You must keep a supply of pencils and erasers. Mistakes happen in math!

NOTES/ASSIGNMENTS

All notes and assignments should be kept in student binder. If misplaced it will be the student’s responsibility to replace.

LABELING WORK

All work should be titled with your first and last name, date, and block in the upper right corner. Seven points will be deducted from the final grade of an assignment if the assignment is not titled correctly. Work without a name will be discarded and no credit will be received.

HOMEWORK

·  Homework should be titled with your first and last name and date and block in the upper right corner. Seven points will be deducted from the final grade of an assignment if the assignment is not titled correctly.

·  You must show all work! The problem, the necessary work, and the answer must be on your paper to receive credit for the homework assignment.

·  Homework will be checked at the beginning of each class. Homework grades will be based on completion and effort only! (Unless announced differently when assigned) Homework is part of the learning process and “practice makes perfect.” It is very important that you are completing homework in order to be prepared for class assessments.

The following rubric will be used for homework.

ü  100 pts. All homework completed (problem, work, and answer).

ü  50 pts. More than half completed, and only part of work shown.

ü  0 pts. Less than half completed or no work shown

v  NOT UNDERSTANDING…..will not be accepted as an excuse for not having homework.

Ø  You must show that you attempted the problems.

Ø  No late homework will be accepted! No excuses!

NOTEBOOK

Each student should have a notebook with dividers labeled as

1.  warm-ups,

2.  interactive notes

3.  assignment sheet-graded quizzes/tests/projects will be kept here

4.  homework

5.  MYP projects/assessments

GRADING SYSTEM

ü  Warm-ups, Daily Grades and Homework 20%

ü  Quizzes 30%

ü  Tests, Projects, and MYP assessments 50%

Warm-Ups…..are to be completed at the beginning of each class. They will be collected when we have completed 10, so make sure you include the date for each one.

Daily grades are assignments completed in class for a grade. These might include (but are not limited to) notes, classwork, and investigations/activities done in class and/or completed at home.

Quizzes and Tests (assessments) will be announced or unannounced. Always be prepared!

Make Up and Late Work Policy (unless extenuating circumstances apply):

§  If you are absent from class you are responsible for the lesson and work we completed.

§  You must make the effort to keep up with the class and complete the work!

§  You should see me the day you return (whether you have Math B that day or not!).

§  All make up work should be completed within 5 school days of the last day absent.

§  If you miss a test, you will need to arrange a time to make it up; class time will not be spent making up tests!

Some assessments and most projects will be scored using the MYP Assessment Criteria. A grading rubric will be provided for each MYP Assessment.

Please note:

ü  I will strictly adhere to the 2013-2014 Northview Discipline Matrix.

ü  I will strictly adhere to the Northview school expectations (i.e. ASD, Cleanliness in Classroom, Dress Code, Electronic Device Policy, Hall Passes, ISS, etc.)

ü  All items posted on the website are subject to update and change when necessary!

ü  Attendance is extremely important for a successful education. Classroom instruction is essential and it is imperative that students be in class. Remember that I will only see you every other day.
