Earth and Space Science

Time (is this a 1 day 50 minute lesson, 5 day 1 hour lesson, once a week over a month lesson….):

Day 1: I will introduce the topic by showing the NASA app on the smart board and demonstrate how to navigate the app. I will then introduce key Vobab. Terms 30 min.

Day 2: We will break into groups of 4, and explore the NASA app to draw pictures of planets and put them in correct order. 50 min

Day 3: Show our posters to the class, and check each one going through the NASA app as a class.

Day 4: Quiz on planets.

What do the students already know? (This could be the Intro or they have learned information before starting this lesson):

That there are objects in the sky: sun, moon, stars, clouds, birds, planes.

Objective (What are the students’ going to accomplish):

Students will be able to illustrate and understand the sequence on the planets in the solar system.

Materials:

Poster, Markers, IPad, Pencil

Procedure:

Day 1: I will introduce the topic by showing the NASA app on the smart board and demonstrate how to navigate the app. After reviewing what we already know I will then introduce key Vocab. Terms and names of planets.

Day 2: We will break into groups of 4, and explore the NASA app to draw pictures of the planets and put them in correct order. The pictures should be labeled and colorful.

Day 3: Show our posters to the class, and check each one going through the NASA app as a class.

Day 4: Quiz on planets.

I will assess my students based on their posters and their quizzes.

Day 1: I will introduce the topic by showing the NASA app on the smart board and demonstrate how to navigate the app. After reviewing what we already know I will then introduce key Vocab. Terms and names of planets.

Day 2: We will break into groups of 4, and explore the NASA app to draw pictures of the planets and put them in correct order.

Day 3: Show our posters to the class, and check each one going through the NASA app as a class, correcting any that are wrong.

Day 4: Quiz on planets; they will have to be able to put them in the correct sequence and look at pictures to label each planet properly based on the picture.
