Snakes and Ladders: Game Instructions

Roll the die. If you read the word correctly on the square that you roll, you advance to that square. If you do not read it correctly, you must stay where you are. (These words were all taken from the 500 most common words up to lesson 19.)

If you land on either a ladder square or a snake square, you must pick a card. These are mostly cards with words from the current SS lesson. Some are in the story and others are new SS words. There are pictures to help. If you read the word correctly, you can advance up the ladder; otherwise you must remain at the bottom of the ladder and advance around the board. If you are on a snake square and you read the word correctly you do not have to slide down the snake tail. You may remain in the square at the head of the snake.

Cards for Snakes and Ladders

Cut out cards. Draw one card when landing on a snake or a ladder.
