The College is seeking to appoint a full-time Lecturer in Practical Theology with Missiology

Job Description

The Lecturer will teach in Practical Theology and the additional area of Missiology, contribute to the development of the educational programmes, engage in designated administrative tasks and play an active part in the worship and spiritual life of the College community.

Essential Criteria

  • A Master’s level degree or above in the main subject area or related area
  • Experience of teaching theological studies at tertiary level
  • Experience as a practitioner in ministry and/or mission
  • An ability to work in a multi-denominational and cross-cultural learning community
  • A willingness to commit to the vision, purpose and values of the College
  • An ability to work as a team playerand independently
  • An understanding of the demands of academic administration

Desirable Criteria

  • A PhD in the main subject area
  • A minimum of three years’ experience teaching Practical Theology
  • Experience of teaching in areas of Missiology
  • Experience of cross-cultural ministry
  • Experience of academic development and coordination/administration

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful applicant will:

  • Work under the direction of the Education Development Team Leader as a member of Teaching Staff
  • Teach and co-ordinate modules relating to Practical Theology and Missiology at a variety of levels across the College
  • Contribute to the administration and development of educational programmes
  • Engage in on-going professional development (including research) in the main subject area
  • Work in collaboration with staff from College and University partners
  • Participate fully in the corporate life of the College community
  • Lead a Fellowship Group, providing pastoral support and practical guidance for a small group of students and individual mentoring as necessary
  • Attend and contribute to meetings of the College as required
  • Liaise with other College staff as required on matters relating to the efficient administrative systems of the College and the support of students
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures relating to the College
  • Undertake all other duties as may be required by the Principal and/or the Education Development Team Leader
