Leaders = GUYS always start on the Left

Followers = GIRLS always start on the Right

POSTURE/FRAME: Four Points of Contact

1. HANDS: Hand to hand

2. SHOULDER BLADE: Hand to shoulder blade

3. ELBOW: Elbow to elbow

4. SHOULDER: Hand to shoulder (sensor and stability)

Leaders make an L with their Left hand for the girls to clasp around with their right hand. Girls put their right thumb in front of guy’s shoulder for stability. Slightly off center.

Try to look up and not at your feet. Put tension in your arms and lean back.

TWO HAND HOLD BASIC STEP

Leader Counts: 1, 2 ,3, X, 5, 6, 7, X forward and back, and side to side

Leader Steps: L, R, L X, R, L, R, X

Follower Counts: 1, 2 ,3, X, 5, 6, 7, X

Follower Steps: R, L, R, X, L, R, L, X

Leader’s hands face up and follower’s hand face down, if two hold hand is in front.

Practice resisting and maintaining your frame position with a tight elbow squeeze and good posture.

OPEN BREAK

Step behind with a rock step together, step behind with a rock step together.

PIVOT TURN

Leaders: Steps stay the same, lead by placing arm up in the air on count 3

Followers: Right foot stays in place as the left foot pivots around the body and back into the basic step. Remember the dance is linear, dance on the line, do not drift left or right.

OPEN POSITION

Girls hold onto guy’s thumbs (handle bars), guys can steer the girl around, forward, back and side to side.

Leader initiates a clear lead with a push back or by the leader pushing with right hand and stepping back with Left foot for an open side break.

Back Break-to guys R then back to basic rock forward/back

DANCE TEST RUBRIC:

5 Points = Frame/Posture 5 Points = Four Point connection 5 Points = Basic Steps 5 Points = Open Break / Open Position 5 Points = Pivot Turn

5 Points = Ability to Lead and Follow (dance) on your own

TOTAL POINTS: 30 Points
