LEAD EXAM INVIGILATOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

Hourly Rate:£11 per hour

Responsible to: Exams Officer

Main Purpose of the Job:

To supervise Examinations and ensure that the guidelines and regulations for the integrity and security of the Examination papers and procedures are followed during an Examination session.

Main Duties

  • To arrive half an hour before the Examination start time
  • To collect and return the key for the Sports Hall
  • To allocate Invigilators to rows for collection and distribution of papers
  • If your location has only one Examination and all the candidates are in that location, you should be given the register to complete
  • Be aware of the evacuation procedure and ensure that your Invigilators on duty are also aware
  • To inform the Exam Officer/Cover Supervisor if any expected Invigilators are not present
  • To ensure mobile phones are switched off and handed in
  • To not start your information announcement if there are candidates waiting to be seated
  • To ensure the relevant signs and a copy of ‘Joint Council Qualification Instructions for conducting Examinations’ is present in the Examination room.
  • To allow candidates into the Examination room with sufficient time for a prompt start at 9.00am for morning sessions and 1.00pm for afternoon sessions
  • To report to the Exam Officer if you feel there has been any breach of security. If this occurs the Head of Centre will be informed who is then responsible for completing a report for the Examining body.

Additional Duties

  • To assist in the setting up of Examination rooms
  • To ensure all candidates receive appropriate Examination question papers and answer papers
  • To be aware of any needs that candidates may have during an examination
  • To ensure answer scripts are collected in candidate number order and are supervised as required until they are delivered to the Exam Office
  • To ensure candidates obey the regulations of an Examination room as laid out in the Examination guidelines
  • To maintain security and confidentiality
  • To record attendance on the official Examination registers
  • To ensure no inappropriate items are brought into the Examination room, such as Mobile telephones, MP3 players, or any other products with text/digital facilities, revision notes or other paperwork unless told otherwise
  • Ensure all candidates are aware of the pre-exam start information and of any erratum notice that may affect them
  • To ensure there is no talking or disruption for the candidates once an Examination has begun
  • To ensure all candidates are seated before opening the question papers
  • To ensure that Invigilators DO NOT help candidates in any way with the question paper
  • To sign the centre’s confidentiality declaration
  • To assist in other activities as may reasonably be requested by the centre from time to time
  • Invigilators should be familiar with the JCQ document ‘Instructions(which will be supplied).

Other Responsibilities

  1. Be aware of the responsibility for personal health, safety and welfare and that of others who may be affected by your actions or inactions.

  1. Co-operate with the employer on all issues to do with health, safety and welfare.

  1. Support the Academy’s implementation of all other current statutory requirements, e.g. Disability Discrimination Act, Access to Work, Equal Opportunities and Child Protection

  1. Undertake such duties as may be considered appropriate by the Principal and member of SLT in line with the needs of the Academy.
  2. Actively pursue own personal development and take full advantage of training provided.
  3. Maintain a professional portfolio of evidence to support the Performance. Management process – evaluating and improving own practice.
  4. Participate in new initiatives and future changes in service delivery improvements to support the objectives of the Academy.
