LC Tigers Girls Soccer Program Information

Each year our goal is to have a successful season of soccer that provides the student-athletes with a competitive and safe learning environment focused on improving both individual and team skills. The following information helps support this goal. We are excited that you have joined our program!

Tryouts/Team Selection:

Tryouts occur during the first two days of the fall sports season. This date is selected by the WIAA each year so it does vary. Tryouts consist of two sessions per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. It is imperative that student-athletes attend both sessions each day so they can maximize their exposure to the coaching staff. If a student-athlete attends both days of tryouts, they will have had 4 opportunities to demonstrate their skills and abilities.

Team selections are announced at the end of the tryouts on day two. Each year we select a Varsity and a Junior Varsity. If we have enough student participation, we will also select players for a C Team. At any point during the season, a player may be asked to move from one team to another.

Practice Expectations:

  • All players are to be appropriately dressed and ready to start training at 3 pm and participate in training till 5 pm.
  • Appropriately dressed can include: shorts, t-shirts, long-sleeve shirts, sweatshirts, warm-up pants, sweats, warm-up jacket, rain coat, and hat or gloves (if cold). Please dress according to the weather. No tank tops, shirts tied up, half shirts, etc.
  • Players MUST wear appropriately-sized shin guards with soccer socks over the top and soccer cleats to participate in any practice.
  • If a player arrives at practice without the appropriate dress/gear, they may be asked not to participate that day.
  • Players are responsible for their own water or sports drinks for practices and games.

Uniforms:

  • Uniforms will be provided by the soccer program. Each player will receive a home & away jersey, one to two pairs of shorts, a warm-up jacket and warm-up pants, and a travel bag. Varsity players will also receive a home & away long-sleeve jersey.
  • Each player is responsible for purchasing two pairs of socks which can be done through the team website setup through BSN Sports. Information will be handed out at tryouts.
  • All gear must be returned at the end of the season. Fines will be assessed for missing items.

Travel/Transportation:

  • Players can utilize the LC Activity bus for transportation to and from Hart Field on practice days.
  • Players who carry a valid driver’s license can use their own personal vehicle to transport themselves to and from the practices.
  • ALL players participating in the LC Soccer program are required to take the team bus to and from all AWAY games.
  • For games held at Hart Field, players may utilize the activity bus for transportation to the field and are allowed to ride home with parents after the game ends.

Academic Expectations:

  • All student-athletes participating in the LC Soccer program are expected to have good grades throughout the entire school year.
  • Grades are checked frequently and a player’s participation may be suspended (practices and/or games) if their grades are not meeting WIAA standards. If this should occur, the player will be asked to use the practice or game time to meet with the teacher, finish homework, etc. in order to improve the grade.

Lettering Criteria:

In order for a player to earn a letter in the LC Girls Soccer Program, they must compete in at least 5 Varsity soccer games in a season. This will include all non-league, league and post-season games.

Awards Banquet:

At the end of the season, we will host an awards banquet for the players on each team. The awards banquet provides the coaching staff the opportunity to honor and celebrate with family and friends the hard work all of the players have put forth throughout the season. The banquet is held at Lewis & Clark High School.

Parent Expectations:

It is the expectation of the LC Girls Soccer Program that the parents of our players support them during the soccer season both on and off the field. As you can see, we are looking to develop great players and teams who compete at a high level but we also strive for excellence in the classroom. We feel that if each player has support from both the coaching staff and parent(s), they will grow to be successful student-athletes.

It is also the expectation of the LC Girls Soccer Program that the parents of our players practice and model good sportsmanship at all games. In addition, we aim for our parent group to cheer in a positive manner and allow the coaching staff to coach the players throughout the games.

LC Soccer “Spirit” Items:

Players and their families will have the option of purchasing LC Girls Soccer clothing items through the spirit clothing website hosted by BSN Sports (Spokane Athletic). There will be T-shirts, sweatshirts, long-sleeve shirts, ½ zip or ¼ zip pullovers, hats, visors, etc. If you have any ideas or suggestions for new items, please let us know.
