Lake Superior School District #381

Funding for the Community Education Fine Arts Scholarship has been made possible by a generous monetary gift from Ann Wood. She established that a portion of her estate be used to fund a scholarship in her name to help students in pursuit of careers in fine arts*. Ann Wood was a lifelong resident, nurse, and community leader in Two Harbors and her memory lives on in the hearts of many.

Eligibility

All Lake Superior School District residents are eligible. You must attend an accredited educational institution in the upcoming school year. The school you are planning to attend can be a public or private university, college, community or technical college, or other accredited educational institution.

Recipients will receive their scholarships after they have completed the first semester of school. Recipients must submit an official transcript with a GPA of 2.5 or above from the completed semester and proof of registration for the following semester. Upon receiving this information, scholarship money will then be provided directly to the school in the form of a check made out to both the recipient and the school. Scholarship recipients who attend school for only one semester will not receive scholarship money. Scholarship recipients are eligible and encouraged to apply for a second year scholarship. Reapplication is required.

The scholarships, usually in the form of $1000 and $2000, will be awarded or renewed at the discretion of the committee. Financial need is not considered in the selection of the recipients.

Selection

Members of the current District Community Education Advisory Council of Lake Superior School District #381 will review the applications and determine who is to receive this scholarship.

*Due to the desires of Ann Wood those pursuing careers in string instruments or visual arts will be given priority.
