Mr. Johnson called the meeting to order.

Mr. Johnson called a roll call: All the board members were present and the superintendent was present.

Administrators present Mrs. Flores, Mrs. Trevino, Ms. Ivey, Ms. Kuntarich and Mr. Sopko.

This is a regular meeting of the Board of School Trustees of the Lake Ridge Schools,

Lake County, Indiana, June 9, 2015, 6:15 P.M., in the school board meeting room

of the Education Center.

Claims Mr. Evans moved to consider the attached Accounts Payable Vouchers and the June 5, 2015 payroll for payment. Mr. Diehl seconded. Motion carried.

Minutes Mrs. Osteen moved to consider minutes of May 26, 2015, regular school board meeting. Mr. Evans seconded. Motion carried.

Recommended Torry Ivey attend the Central Indiana Educational Service Center Technology Leadership Certification in Indianapolis on June 16-17, 2015 with expenses paid from Title IIA.

Recommended Kirsten Fitzgerald attend the 2015 College & Career Acceleration Summer Institute in Hobart on June 17, 2015 with expenses paid from Title IIA.

Recommended Naseem Malik, Peliar Durden and Ryan Schweitzer attend Project Lead the Way Computer Science & Software Engineering workshop in Indianapolis on June 14-26, 2015 with expenses paid from the general fund and the stipend paid from Title IIA.

Recommended Greg Keehn Charmaine Wierzbicki and Tracy Sines attend the Intervening for Literacy Success with Intermediate, Middle and Secondary Students workshop in Chicago on July 29-31, 2015 with expenses paid from Title IIA.

Meeting Recommended the second board meeting in June be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 6:00 PM.

Tuition Recommended the attached list of five (5) teachers be approved for the

Reimbursement Tuition Reimbursement for the 2014-2015 school year in the amount of

$300.00 each per the teachers’ contract.

Purchase Recommended approving the corrected purchase order to Starcraft

Order in the amount of $55,375.00 paid from the bus replacement plan.

Contract Recommended approving the attached cost reduced contract

schedule of refuse pick up.

Public Recommended permission to advertise the public hearing for the

Hearing Pool Filtration Project.

Contract Recommended approving the attached proposal from Pepsi and allow the

Business Manager to sign and secure the five (5) year contract with Pepsi.

Rainy Day Recommended approving the attached Resolution to Transfer Funds to the Fund Rainy Day Fund 2015.

Banking Recommended permission to accept the attached Underwriter Engagement Agreement to use George K. Baum & Company and their representative

Damian Maggos for Investment Banking Services.

Student Jaylen Reese stated Calumet New Tech High School Graduation will be

The Graduation Ceremony at the Lake Ridge Schools Facebook page and the Calumet New Tech High School Facebook page.

Discussion Mr. Johnson opened the floor to the community

Discussion Mr. Buckley thanked everyone for coming out tonight. Mr. Buckley stated he is looking forward to graduation at Calumet New Tech High School.

Mr. Evans congratulated all of the Calumet New Tech High School Graduates especially the student representatives. Mr. Evans stated that this was the best group of student representatives in his five years on the School Board. Mr. Evans thanked everyone for coming out tonight.

Mrs. Osteen thanked everyone for coming out tonight. Mrs. Osteen thanked the staff, no matter what position. She appreciates all staff for taking such good care of students. Mrs. Osteen is looking forward to graduation.

Mr. Diehl thanked everyone for coming out tonight. Mr. Diehl stated the rumors circulating in the community that the Lake Ridge School District will be taken over by another school district are untrue. Mr. Diehl congratulated Jaylen Reese and the Senior Class.

Mrs. Flores stated it is good to see everyone. Mrs. Flores is looking forward to graduation. It is one of the highlights of the year.

Dr. Shirley thanked everyone for coming out tonight. Dr. Shirley opened the floor to Ms. Ivey, Principal of Lake Ridge New Tech Middle School, to introduce the new 7th Grade English/Language Arts teacher, Ms. Kristin Mantta. Ms. Mantta stated she has 10 years teaching experience and she is looking forward to teaching at Lake Ridge New Tech Middle School. Dr. Shirley welcomed Ms. Mantta. Dr. Shirley extended her condolences to Laura Hubinger, Business Manager of Lake Ridge Schools, whose father passed away. Dr. Shirley stated that Jaylen Reese, Student Representative, has been an ideal student and she appreciates all that he has done for the district. Dr. Shirley stated we are ready to start the Longfellow Elementary School parking lot project. We just had the Ground Breaking Ceremony. Dr. Shirley thanked the entire Lake Ridge Staff for a successful year.

Mr. Johnson thanked everyone for coming out tonight. Mr. Johnson congratulated Jaylen Reese on graduation and receiving a college scholarship. Mr. Johnson congratulated Jaylen for being chosen as the Master of Ceremonies at the New Tech Conference in July. Mr. Johnson asked Jaylen to come back and share his experience with the students and School Board. Mr. Johnson thanked all staff, administrators, and students for a successful year. Mr. Johnson stated, “No we are not joining the Gary School Corporation. That has never been a though or an idea nor will it ever be. I do not know how that rumor started but that is all it is, a rumor. There is no foundation for it.” Mr. Johnson wished everyone a great summer and hopes to everyone at graduation this Sunday.
