Lab-9: Spreadsheet Software: 20 points

In the next few labs, we will be learning about electronic spreadsheets. Spreadsheets are tools for organizing accounting information; one of the many nice features of electronic spreadsheet is that when a value is based on a formula, the value is automatically recalculated whenever any of the elements of the formula are changed.

USE A NEW DISKETTE. Whenever you are told to save your worksheet, save it on drive A: (the floppy disk drive) so that you have the worksheet on your diskette.

  1. Use a diskette to copy the Excel files from the server in your lab.
  2. Read pages EX0.1 – EX0.6. Execute the tutorial on pages EX1.1 – EX1.77 of your lab manual. On page EX1.74, make sure that your worksheet contains your name. Also change the Author of the spreadsheet to your name and section number, by going to File/Properties. Now you can set the footer for the spreadsheet so that your name and section appear at the bottom of every page automatically. Make sure you print this spreadsheet on only one page using File/Page Setup or File/Print Preview/Setup.

NOTE: For all spreadsheets, remember to change the author to your name and make the footer of your spreadsheet contain your name and section number, see page EX2.54. You may also want to choose landscape for some printouts.

  1. Do practice exercise 3 on page EX1.90 of your lab manual.
  2. Do practice exercise 4 on page EX1.91 of your lab manual. Once again, make sure that your name and section number appear on the bottom of the worksheet and as the Author.

Lab-10: Spreadsheet Software: 40 points

  1. In this lab, you will be creating charts that graphically display data. Execute the tutorial on pages EX2.4 – EX2.56 of your lab manual. On page EX2.56, print your workbook of charts.
  2. Do practice exercise 1 on page EX2.65. Include your name and section number as part of the title for each chart.
  3. Do practice exercise 2 on page EX2.66.

Lab 11: Spreadsheet Software: 40 points

NOTE: You must use formulas wherever the exercises state to use a formula. You will not receive credit for the lab if you just type values in the cells instead of formulas.

  1. Execute the tutorial on pages EX3.1 – EX3.62 of your lab manual. On page EX3.62, be sure to print your worksheet and save it – make sure that your name and section number appear at the top of the worksheet.
  2. Do practice exercise 3 on page EX3.74 – EX 3.75 of your lab manual.
  3. Do practice exercise 4 on pages EX3.76 – EX 3.77 of your lab manual.

What to turn in for each of the above labs

Turn in your printouts of the worksheets (from the lab tutorial and the practice exercises), along with your diskette (remember to make a diskcopy!) containing the files for the worksheets since you will need them to continue. Your printout MUST be stapled together with your name and section number at the top, and your diskette MUST be labeled with your name, section number and Lab number.
