Title: / Metadata requirements for collective contents

Objective:

In some cases, content needs to be a collection of various kinds of sub-contents. Representative service scenarios at FG IPTV-DOC-0055 are:

l  Multiple episodes of a series

l  Multi-angle service

l  Photo album service as a T-entertainment

l  T-learning service

l  Etc.

As the relation between EPG metadata and EPG application, metadata for these collective contents need to be defined being separated from application for presentation of them.

Requirements for metadata describing collective content:

1.  IPTV system should support a collective content of various sub-contents such as application, image, text, AV, and etc.

2.  IPTV system should support metadata describing the collective content

3.  Metadata for the collective content should bind up various kinds of sub-contents as a unified form

4.  Metadata for the collective content should be uniquely identified by an ID

5.  Metadata for the collective content should be able to describe the characteristics of collective content, itself

l  Total number of sub-contents

l  Ordered flag to indicate whether the sub-contents are ordered or not

l  Title

l  MediaTitle

l  Synopsis

l  Genre

l  ParentalGuidance

l  Language

l  Credits

l  RelatedMaterial

l  Publication Date

l  Publication Location

l  Duration

l  IDs for other collections of which this collection is a member

6.  Metadata for the collective content should be a unit of purchase

l  Price and conditions of availability

7.  Metadata for the collective content should be able to uniquely identify each sub-content by an ID

8.  Metadata for the collective content should be able to describe the characteristics of each sub-content . It need to be extended from the elements for collective content, itself.

l  Content Type

l  File Size

l  File Format

l  Specific elements for photo album

  • Location list for location based album (e.g. San jose)
  • Time list for time based album (e.g. Jan. 2007)
  • Person name list for person based album (e.g. my family)
  • Event list for event based album (e.g. graduation ceremony)

l  Specific elements for T-learning

  • Subject (e.g. math)
  • IntendedUser - primary intended educational user group (e.g. school teachers)
  • EducationalType – a specific kind of educational content (e.g. exercise, simulation, exam, narrative text, experiment, self assessment or lecture)
