SAHRA Website

In late 2005, SAHRA began tracking its website statistics with Google Analytics, which provides better filtering of data, and therefore better accuracy than Urchin. Website visits and page views show a considerable increase, but this increase was also observed month to month with the Urchin statistics.

AHS Annual Meeting

The Arizona Hydrological Society’s annual Symposium was held in Sept. 2006 in Glendale, Arizona.SAHRA was a corporate sponsor and provided displays on the STC and the Water Sustainability Program, and chaired a technical session on drought monitoring through public participation.Presenters at a pre-conference drought workshop included: Kathy Jacobs, “Preparing for climate change,” Gary Woodard, “Tools for drought, hydroclimate variation, and climate change: SAHRA Web applications and services.” Technical session presentations were made by: Kathy Jacobs, “The Arizona Water Institute,” Matt Weber, “Shades of gray,” Gary Woodard, “Arizona wells and groundwater data: Web apps to improve accessibility and analysis,” Gary Woodard, “From meter to monitor: The promise of low-cost, near-real time water delivery data,” and Kyle Carpenter, “The Arizona Hydrological Information System.”

ArizonaWater.org

The ArizonaWater.org website reached its first birthday on August 29, 2006. Components include an expertise directory; degree programs; unique research facilities; organizations and associations; reports, maps and databases; and ties to existing databases. The website currently includes the following listings:

Rainlog.com

This project began in 2005. 597 users were subscribed by Jan. 30, 2007 (up from 74 at the end of 2005).

1056rain gauges were acquired in 2006, including 144 that were donated from the Salt River Project. A total of 502 were distributed for free and 230were sold on the website (total of 732).

We also started to buy and distribute tipping bucket gauges at the end of 2006. Eight were given out in 2006; many more will be distributed in 2007.
