KSB Group reports stable sales revenue

Half-year financial report shows shortfall in order intake

FRANKENTHAL: In the first half of the year, KSB generated consolidated sales revenue of €1,090.1 million. Thus in a difficult market environment the pumps and valves manufacturer achieved approximately (– 0.8 %) the same sales revenue level as during the months of January to June 2012. As KSB states in its half-year financial report published today, the sales revenue of the Group’s German parent company developed positively: Between January and June, KSB AG invoiced several major orders and thereby increased its sales revenue to € 415.5 million (+ 4.2 %). For the full year, KSB still expects its consolidated sales revenue to exceed the previous year’s level if the economy does not deteriorate further.

KSB is also aiming to achieve moderate growth in its order intake in the current financial year. At mid-year, order intake levels were still below comparative prior-year figures. In the first six months of the year, the Group received orders worth € 1,096.4 million (– 5.6 %). The reason for the weaker order intake was the restrained investment activity in the project business, for which KSB anticipates a recovery in the second half of the year. KSB AG received orders totalling € 380.1 million, 6.9% below comparative prior-year figures.

Based on this order intake and sales revenue development, KSB generated consolidated earnings before income taxes of € 48.8 million in the first six months of the year, € 3.5 million (6.7 %) lower than in the first half of 2012. In particular, the sustained pressure on prices in the project business had an adverse impact. Assuming a slight improvement in business volume, KSB expects to see earnings in 2013 approximately at the previous year’s level.

Mid-year, the total number of employees in the Group was 16,565; this represents an increase of 3.4 % compared with 30 June 2012.
