KMS JV and Varsity Softball Tryouts 2017-2018
The softball season is upon us and it should prove to be an exciting one. The emphasis will be on building a strong foundation of skills, an understanding of the rules, softball team skills, team sportsmanship, school pride, and self-confidence. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are eligible to try-out JV and Varsity positions. No softball experience required. Unfortunately, due to the large numbers of students trying out and limited space and resources, cuts will be necessary. This is a very painful experience for the students and us. The students will be scored on their ability in each skill, ability to learn, athleticism, hustle, teamwork and attitude.
Student Eligibility-All forms are due to student services by November 2nd (Athletic Participation Card, Participation/Fee Agreement, Concussion Statement, and Physical)
Participation Fee: Do not pay until after tryouts but must be paid before first practice. The $150 Fee must be paid by Nov. 13th. There is a link to the online payment on the KMS website. If you are looking for financial assistance, contact the district athletic office for information.
Academic Standard: All players must maintain grades of C or better and have satisfactory behavior in every class. Grades and behavior will be checked weekly. Failing grades or poor behavior are ground for suspension and possible dismissal from the team.
When and Where are tryouts-Varsity softball field November 6 – 9 at 3:30 PM. Report to the locker room after school to dress out. Immediately get out to the fields. Bring your backpacks because we will dismiss from the field at 5:30 PM.
Proper Attire: Softball Glove, Helmet if you have one, T-shirt, softball pants (preferred) or shorts, socks and athletic shoes (cleats preferred). Please do not wear jeans.

First Cuts Tuesday, 2nd cuts Wednesday, Thursday Final roster.
Please do not buy new equipment before cuts are made.
Softball tryouts are closed tryouts. Due to safety concerns, parents and students not trying out will not be allowed at the softball field during tryouts.
If you have a school conflict for a tryout day, please make arrangements with the coaches. There are no makeup days if you do not contact Coach Smith prior to missing. Players are expected to attend each day of tryouts.
Practice-Varsity Practice: Monday - Thursday3:30 PM- 5:30 PM.
