DUMPING OF RUBBISH

It has come to our notice that Household rubbish is being dumped in the bins belonging to the Playground. This is a wonderful amenity to have in the town, and so beneficial to so many families, it is a disgrace that members of the public think it is ok to put their personal rubbish into bins that are available to our young and very young. Please refrain from this practice and give some thought to our children that use our wonderful playground.

Bingo is back Saturday 3rd September in the Abbey hall at 8.15pm

Duiske College is still accepting applications for the following Adult Education courses:

  • Outdoor Sports and Recreation QQI Level 5

This course equips successful candidates with the experience and qualifications to instruct people in outdoor sports, including kayaking, orienteering and biking among other sports. The area of outdoor recreation is one that has increased in popularity in Graiguenamanagh over the past number of years, and graduates can set up their own business, or work part or full time for existing businesses. There are 5 places left on this course.

  • Creative Media QQI Level 5

This course includes modules in animation, drawing and digital photography, among other subjects. It prepares students to work in the areas of art and animation, an area that Kilkenny is particularly strong in. It is also a very good course to use as a foundation course to enter Third Level Art courses (we have progression agreements with LIT, WIT and Carlow IT). Graduates of this course can also progress to our Level 6 Visual Art course. There are 8 places left on this course.

  • Business and Computer Studies Level 5

This course includes modules in word processing, payroll, bookkeeping, spreadsheets and database, among other subjects. Successful graduates will have the skills and qualifications to go directly into the workplace, in business and office environments. This course can also be used to progress to Third Level courses (again, we have Progression Agreements with Carlow IT and WIT, to make the transition easier for students). It is also an excellent course for school leavers, as a way to gain computer skills before they set off for college. There are 6 places left on this course.

REMEMBER: ALL COURSES CAN LEAD TO 400 CAO POINTS FOR ENTRY TO COLLEGE

  • Please see brochure in bulletin for further information on courses
  • At present, our Level 6 courses are full, but we are still taking names for a waiting list
  • Application forms available online ( or from Duiske College
  • Courses begin on Wednesday 14 September, information morning on Tuesday 13 September
  • Eligible students are entitled to the Back to Education Allowance
