Vocabulary: essential words from the texts we read

Increasing academic stamina through sustained silent reading (SSR)

Grammar and conventions include:

Second semester:

Novel: Last Days of Summer

Vocabulary: essential words from the text

Increasing writing fluency through journaling

Grammar and conventions include:

commonly confused words

sentence combining

properly documenting sources

Staying Organized:

You will need a binder with 4 sections:

·  SSR/Journal

·  Vocab.

·  Notes

·  Returned Work

Bathroom Passes:

3 per semester. Unused passes are worth 5 extra credit points each. After your 3 passes are used up, you will be required to stay after class to make up for any class time missed.

Late Work:

Late work for excused absences should be turned in the next class period. Essays and projects grades are 10% lower for each day they are late. All other late work will earn 50% of the points it would have earned had it been turned in on time.
