Kearsarge Magazine’s Art & Gallery Guide Wins 2011 Apex Award

Grantham, NH — June 28, 2011 —Kearsarge Magazine’s annual Art & Gallery Guidehas received an APEX 2011 Award for Publication Excellence in the New Magazines & Journals category.

APEX 2011 — the 23rd Annual Awards for Publication Excellence — is an international competition that recognizes outstanding publications from newsletters and magazines to annual reports, brochures and Web sites. According to the APEX judges, “the awards were based on excellence in graphic design, quality of editorial content and the success of the entry in conveying the message and achieving overall communications effectiveness.” There were 3,300 entries; only 957 Awards of Excellence were presented.

The Art & Gallery Guide is an annual resource that provides information about artists and craftsmen in New Hampshire and Vermont. There are directories of artists, theaters and performers, art museums and historical societies, and retail stores that support local artists — all categorized by state and by town. There are articles on individual artists, art organizations and galleries. It is a major marketing piece for artisans in the Kearsarge and Upper Valley area; the 2011-2012 guide is available at galleries, inns and high-traffic locations now.

This is the sixth year in a row Kearsarge Magazine has received recognition. Kearsarge Magazine received an APEX 2006 Award of Excellence in the New Magazines & Journals category; a 2007 award in the Magazine & Journal Writing category; a 2008 award in the Marketing & Public Relations Campaigns category for the “Rediscover Your Hometown” marketing postcards; a 2009 award in the Blogs, Forums & Wikis category for Whitcomb’s blog on and a 2010 award Magazine & Journal Writing category for an article on autism.
