Rider for hypnotist chrisjones

Greetings from chrisjones!

I truly appreciate the opportunity to come to your campus and entertain your students!

This is my rider, it should answer most questions about the show, set up, arrival times and travel arrangements. I am, as a person and performer, very flexible and low stress. If anything seems complicated or needs further explanation, please contact me directly via cell phone

(773) 344-7128 or email .

This first part is for you to fill out please, it may be redundant but it’s very helpful for me.

Name of venue: ______

Name of contact person: ______

Cell number of contact: ______

Name of hotel (if applicable): ______

Address: ______

How many people are you expecting at the event (guess): ______

Does your team have a Twitter account? If so what is it @______

Would you like me to contact the school’s paper to promote the event? Yes or No

If possible please include a newspaper contact person: ______

Advertising: Bass/Schuler can send fliers for the event, but you now have access to even more photos.

Download photos at onewordchrisjones.smugmug.com

Download shots at “chrisjones” my Facebook fan page or from Twitter @1wordchrisjones

Feel free to tweet, message and use photos from any of these for your own advertisements.

Travel: I will reserve and purchase my own flights and rental cars. This way you and your team get to relax and I’ll meet you on campus.

Arrival on campus: Whenever routing allows, I like to eat “dinner” on campus with students from the programming board. This is often around 5:30 or 6:00pm. I don’t eat much, I mostly want to meet the team before the show and then do teasers in the dining area to promote the show. Teasers are close up magic tricks - no set up required.

If you happen to have small fliers or handouts for the event, I’d be happy to hand them out anytime while I’m on campus.

If students on the board want to eat off campus post event, I’d be excited to do that. I eat all foods, I am not picky.

Please read through all three pages of this rider and if everything seems in order please sign below and send back this sheet with the completed contract to Bass/Schuler.

Arrival at Venue:

Sound check normally takes ten minutes. I like to be at the venue fifty-minutes before show time.

- i.e. 7:00pm show, I’ll be there at 6:10 and I’ll be done setting up by 6:20pm.

I am completely flexible as to start time. Some schools start on time, others start ten minutes late. It’s your choice when we actually start.

We can open the venue doors immediately after sound check or you can keep the door closed until start time.

I’ll have a printed introduction for a board member to read before the show, she/he can also announce any up coming programs at this time.

Lighting: The lights can stay at one level throughout the show. It needs to be fairly lit on the audience and well lit onstage. Guideline: The audience has to be able to see the volunteers’ faces.

Sound:

I would like floor monitors facing the volunteers on stage if possible (floor monitors are just speakers). With all the laughter and noise, it’s very difficult for volunteers to hear the music and microphone from the stage.

Music and vocals should come through the stage monitors and speakers.

I sketched you a Charlie Brown style stage plot, see below, but don’t judge my lack of art skills.

Sound Tech:

I play music out of my laptop with a remote control, so no need for a sound person to look for cues or worry about changing the volume.

+ The laptop has an 1/8 inch (headphone) jack that gets connected with an auxiliary cable to direct box. The direct box connects to a microphone cord (XLR).

+ Most theaters have direct boxes readily available, but I bring my own aux cable, direct box, and microphone cord.

Content:

The type of humor in my show is similar to Family Guy, Parks & Rec, Archer… you know, PG-14.

+ My show is usually a little naughty but not raunchy or blue. Before the show we can talk about what content is right for your audience

+ i.e. doing a “Rated-G” show for Family Weekend vs. Late Night and “do whatever”.

Merchandise:

If I sell anything (CDs, T-shirts or bracelets), I would like some help from the programming team.

If they help collect money and distribute items, that would be great. Any size table, placed off of the stage or at the entrance, would be most appreciated. 100% of all money collected will go to charity.

Extra Credit:

If you have a projector and screen available, I would love to use them to play preshow videos.

+ The projector and screen are not needed for the show. I just have really cool videos to play while music is playing before the show actually begins.

+ Can I bring a smoke machine? I have two awesome smoke machines. I also bring lasers to most show. When the lasers are going the fog and smoke really turns the rooms into a party.

+ Please let me know if smoke machines are allowed, and if they don’t set off fire alarms, I’ll bring them.

+ When promoting, if possible, please spell my name as one word…“chrisjones.” I grew up with a speech and hearing impediment and everything I said sounded like one word. Spelling my name as one word, “chrisjones” helps for branding and reminds me to share my story with others.

Finally thank you again,

chrisjones

P.S - If you need anything from me, anything I can do to make the show bigger and better, please don’t hesitate to email, call or text me directly (773)344-7128, see you soon!
