Essay: In 400 – 500 words describe your sheep experience and why you should

receive a Katahdin Hair Sheep International (KHSI) scholarship. This essay must be typed.

Complete applications must contain:

current school transcript.

current letters of recommendation, from someone who has known you for severalyears, stating why that person believes you should receive a Katahdin Hair Sheep International Scholarship. These must be signed and enclosed in sealed envelope.

a typed essay describing your sheep experience and why you should receive a Katahdin Hair Sheep International (KHSI) scholarship.

Guidelines for

KHSI SCHOLARSHIP

1. Eligible applicants are U.S.college students or high school seniors who are (or will be) attending a college or university of their choice.

2. Applicant must be a signed up youth member of KHSI (membership is free) or their immediate family must also be members of KHSI.

3. Applicant must be under 21 as of January 1, 2018or under age 26 if applying for support for graduate school, and must have been involved with the Katahdin sheep industry for at least one year.

4. KHSI will award at least two (2) $500 scholarships in 2018. If enough funds are donated and enough quality applications received, KHSI will award three-four scholarships or increase the award amount.

5. Applicants may only receive the KHSI Scholarship one time.

6. Applicants who are not awarded a scholarship are encouraged to reapply.

7. Undergraduate and graduate level students are eligible to apply.

8. The KHSI Scholarship Committee will judge the applications. Scholarship recipientswill receive an official letter and their award by mail. Scholarship recipients will be announced to the KHSI Membership at the 2018 KHSI Expo in Fishersville, Virginiaon Friday, July 20, 2018.

9. Complete applications must be postmarked by the deadline or they will not be

reviewed.
