REGULAR ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY MONITORING
REQM parameters for the Month of December-2014
I. MICRO METEOROLOGICAL STATUS
As a part of study, micrometeorology and microclimatic parameters were recorded by installing automatic weather station at fire Station, BTPS. Data of wind velocity, wind direction, ambient temperature and relative humidity were recorded at hourly intervals during the monitoring period.
December- 2014SL No / Parameter / Min / Max
1 / Predominant wind direction / SE
2 / Wind Speed (m/s) / 0.0 / 5.3
3. / Temperature (oC) / 17.5 / 32.1
4. / Rain fall (mm) / 0

II AMBIENT AIR QUALITY
Ambient air quality levels were monitored for significant parameters liked RPM,SPM,SO2 and NOx. Ambient and fugitive emissions were carried out at 8 and 5 locations respectively. The monitoring network was designed based on the available meteorological and climatologically norms of predominant wind direction of the study region.

A 2 / East / 2.5 km / Near Kudithini village
A 3 / NW / 8.0 km / Near Hosa Daroji Village
A 4 / N / 2.0 km / Timmalapur village
A 5 / SSE / 1.8 km / 1.8 Km from chimney in SSE Direction

A 7 / S / 4.8 km / Sultanpur village
A 8 / N / 4.5 km / Yelubenchi village
The variation on Ambient Air Pollutant concentration levels observed at nearby villages for PM10 : 35.2 to 69.5 µg/m3, PM2.5 : 8.5 to 27.5 µg/m3, SO2: 6.6 – 18.3 µg/m3 , NOx 10.3 – 23.8 µg/m3 , CO: 124 to 137 µg/m3, CO2: 310 ppm to 312 ppm
III FUGITIVE EMISSION
Fugitive emission monitoring was carried out 5 locations NAAQ Standards for Industrial Area Annual Average (360 µg/m3) and 24 hr (500 µg/m3). Concentration of fugitive emission values (µg/m3) observed for 24hr sampling is as follows:
Near Wagon tippler Unit –I & II: 300 and 330 µg/m3, Near Conveyor belts Unit -I: 222 and 225 µg/m3, Station Building unit-II: 267 and 305 µg/m3, Near conveyor belt unit -II: 250 and 260 µg/m3, Station building -II : 265 and 307 µg/m3
IV STACK MONITORING
Stack emission monitoring was carried out at Chimney. Average of maximum values observed is as follows:
Parameter(mg/Nm3) / Unit-1 / Unit-2
SPM / 48.7 / 47.6
SO2 / 40.2 / 38.5
NOX / 48.3 / 41.6

CO % / 3.1 / 3.1
O2 % / 3.0 / 2.7
V NOISE LEVEL STATUS
Back ground noise level survey has been carried out regularly during day and night time at 10 locations in the plant. During the study period Day and Night time noise levels ranges from 41.5 to 73.3 dB (A)
VI WATER QUALITY STATUS
Any adverse impact or pollution consequences at water will have serious effect on the environment. Surface and ground water samples were collected as grab sampling method and were analyzed for various parameters compared Ground water with drinking water standards (as per IS:-10500- 2012), Surface water with inland surface water quality standards (as per IS:- 2296 – 1982).
Surface water samples collected from Ramappana halla (Streem), Daroji re-servoir, Marali halla (streem) , Raw water pond (BTPS)
And Ground water samples collected from existing bore wells inside the plant (BTPS).
