Ultrasound TechnicianStanislaus Surgical Hospital Precision Imaging

Department: / SSH PI
Reports to: / Manager of Imaging Services and Executive Director of SSH PI and Radiology Department

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create diagnostic images. The ultrasound technician aims the sound waves toward the area of the patient’s body that is in need of treatment
  • Before beginning the imaging process, the ultrasound technician first explains the procedure to the patient and takes a medical history. The ultrasound technician must then select the appropriate equipment for taking the images and move the patient into the necessary position. The ultrasound technician must also determine whether or not the images are good enough for the physician to make a diagnosis before completing the imaging session.
  • The technician scans in the appropriate paperwork at the end of the procedure.
  • The technician discusses any urgent exams with the radiologist before the patient leaves the facility.
  • Keep log book for Cidex current daily
  • Follows Hospital policy on Cidex
  • Doesn’t release any information to patients about scan unless referring physician is aware or Radiologist agrees.
  • Ensure adequate history appropriately for Radiologist.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Certificate of sonography

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years as a sonographer.

Skills / Activities:

  1. Excellent interpersonal skills which include Customer Service skills
  2. Excellent written and verbal skills
  3. Basic proficiency with computer system(s)
  4. Excellent Organizational skills

Certifications:

Ultrasound certificate
