This week, the First Responder Network Authority held the Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC) Summer In-Person Meeting in San Diego, California, with over 30 PSAC members in attendance.

The First Responder Network Authority will once again join the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) Public Safety Communications Research (PSCR) at its annual Public Safety Broadband Conference, including keynote speeches by Board Chair Sue Swenson and CEO Mike Poth. The First Responder Network Authority updated the FirstNet and Emergency Managersinfosheeton FirstNet.gov.

The Texas A&M University Internet2 Technology Evaluation Center has issued a Request for Innovation for its 2018 Winter Institute, which will be held in Disaster City onOctober 22-26. This event will expose first responders to FirstNet technology, identify from first responders what works and what does not, and inform leadership on what will be needed to fund and manage these services. First Responder Network Authority staff attended the Major Cities Chiefs Association (MCCA) 2018 Summer Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee.

First Responder Network Authority Board member Kevin McGinnis and PSAC Interim Chair Paul Patrick participated in the Governing Board Meeting of the National Public Safety Telecommunications Council (NPSTC) via teleconference.

First Responder Network Authority staff attended the EMS Administrators’ Association of California (EMSAAC) Annual Conference in Coronado, talking with attendees about how FirstNet can augment EMS operations.

The First Responder Network Authority tribal team met with the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe to discuss their unique coverage and communications needs in Needles, California.
