Jubilee Garden Food Bank Partners

The Jubilee Garden partners with a number of local food banks.

Harvest of Hope Pantry in Boulder was formed in 2012 through the efforts of parishioners at St. Thomas Aquinas and Sacred Heart of Jesus churches. Staff and volunteers there offer groceries to those with kitchens in the mornings and to those without kitchens in the afternoons on weekdays, and also provide a pleasant sitting room where clients can find refreshments and take a relaxing break. Though their space is small compared to other food banks in the area, they make good use of the room they have to serve an amazing number of people. The Pantry has added evening hours on Thursday to be more accessible for clients who work full-time.

Sister Carmen Community Center is located in Lafayette and serves primarily residents in the eastern part of the county. It offers a comprehensive range of services from case management for those who are making efforts to get themselves and their families on a more stable financial footing to yoga classes to a thrift store which accepts donations of clothing in good condition and most usable household items. Recent additions to the spectrum of trainings offered include a series about Community Leadership. The center continues to encourage healthy living with classes highlighting nutritious economical tasty recipes created using ingredients from the food bank. To the south of their facility at 655 Aspen Ridge Dr in Lafayette volunteers and staff have established a small demonstration garden! The center was founded by Sisters of Charity many years ago and now operates as a non-profit agency overseen by a board of directors.

Community Food Share (CFS) specializes in meeting the needs of the hungry in Boulder and Broomfield Counties and takes in and distributes more food than any of the other food banks here. They are located in a remodeled warehouse facility in the Colorado Tech Center industrial park in Louisville. On Mondays through Wednesdays they are open for shoppers from area non-profit agencies. On Wednesdays through Fridays participants in the Feeding Families program come and get groceries at CFS. CFS has during the last few years expanded their capacity in several ways. They’ve set up a clean room where they can repackage bulk beans, grains and other commodities in portions suitable for their clients. New trucks enable them to take food on the road for distribution at schools or in neighborhoods which serves clients who find it difficult to reach the warehouse.

Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA) is a counterpart to Sister Carmen which serves primarily residents of the city of Boulder and nearby unincorporated areas, and also operates in Broomfield. They own residential units which are made available to clients with emergency housing needs and their food pantry is located in the Holiday neighborhood in north Boulder.

OUR Center, more formally known as Outreach United Resource Center, Inc is a well-known institution serving Longmont residents. In 2016, they moved into a well-designed facility which allows them to offer a wider range of services than before, primarily in one location, at 220 Collyer St. Empty Bowls is OUR Center’s signatureannual fundraiser designed both to raise awareness and to help feed the hungry.

Louisville’s United Methodist Church, just across from Memory Square Park, hosts a food bank in the basement. City residents who are constrained in the amount they can budget towards food appreciate being able to replenish their shelves with food from here. Students at Louisville Middle School collect canned food for this Community Food Bank annually, in the process learning about poverty close to home and establishing a pattern of charitable giving.
