Maybeth Doster Thurmond, age 100, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at her daughter’s residence in Colbert, Georgia.
Maybeth Thurmond was born in Godfrey, Georgia, on November 26, 1915, and just celebrated her one hundredth birthday on Thanksgiving Day. Her parents were the late James Clarence Doster and Minnie Mae Grimes Doster.
Maybeth Thurmond was an active member of Smithboro Baptist Church. She made it her daily mission to teach those she encountered the love of Jesus Christ. She loved listening to Christian music, and all nature, including birds. However, her greatest joy was raising her children and grandchildren.
Husband, Charles Raymond Thurmond; son, James Thomas “J.T.” Bagley; and brothers and sisters, Charlie Doster, J.C. Doster, Marie Whitten, Vera Cochrane, Louise Brown, and an infant sister preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children and son-in-law, Stephen Thurmond of Monticello, and Gaydell and Robert Eisenman of Colbert, Georgia; grandchildren, Nichole Carter, Beth Mix, Star Thurmond, Timothy Maxwell Eisenman, Nathanael James Eisenman, and Emily Eve Eisenman; great grandchildren, Blade Thurmond, Harley Silvers, Kelsey Mix, Gracie Mix, and Bethany Mix; and nephews, Bennie N. Cochrane, Bobby D. Cochrane, Raymond Brown, and Mike Whitten.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Smithboro Baptist Church. Interment will be held in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Shady Dale. Rev. Jeff Pangle will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Timothy Maxwell Eisenman, Nathanael James Eisenman, Robert Melvin Eisenman, Blade Thurmond, Harley Silvers, and Bart Migom.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Friday, December 4, 2015, at Jordan Funeral Home.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations made to Jordan Funeral Home in Monticello.
