Primary Purpose:

Produces and directs various programs, promotional or documentary material for on-air broadcast and online use. Determines the creative needs of the program, videos and edits material.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education/Certification/Experience:

·  Successful practical demonstration of the above, either through previous employment or college training.

·  Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

·  Have experience and/or training in the fundamentals of current television production techniques, including field (ENG) production, lighting, computer generated graphics and animation (Both 2D & 3D) as well as computer based linear/non-linear editing equipment.

·  Experience in using Avid or Final Cut Pro editing systems, including digitizing from a variety of sources.

·  Knowledge of Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, and DVD Studio Pro.

·  Have exposure to the fundamental aspects of public relations.

·  Have demonstrated creativity in producing videos that meet expectations of project clients.

·  Have ability to function productively as a member of a creative team.

·  Experience or willingness to learn mobile reporting tools.

·  Knowledge of and desire to participate in social media.

·  Ability to adapt in changing media and technology landscape.

·  Knowledge of and desire to create non-article content – tweets, video clips

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1.  Research and develop story/program concepts for various areas such as public interest and educational use; determines angle of story or program to cover.

2.  Conducts required research such as personal interviews to obtain necessary information; plans storylines and develops scripts.

3.  Schedules production, camera and editing time; preplans taping to ensure the necessary equipment and visuals are available.

4.  Responsible for technical and creative decisions regarding elements as appropriate lighting, shooting angle, placement and type of microphones, audio needs, locations, use of movement and interviews.

5.  Acts as Producer/Director/Videographer in the field.

6.  Exercises independent judgment in the assembling and editing of videotaped material for broadcast/online to ensure visual cohesiveness by assessing narrative and visual context.

7.  Develop interactive components to each piece/story and critically evaluate and determine the best delivery method.

8.  Edits and assembles final program materials.

9.  Perform other duties as assigned.
