UNDERSTANDING VENTILATOR GRAPHICS

U

nderstanding Ventilator Graphics is an extensive Animated PowerPoint 97 slide presentation that illustrates the Basics of Ventilator Graphics and details Clinical Applications of the various components of graphics available on current generation ventilators. Two scripted presentations are included as a progressive tutorial. Real graphics captured from actual patients are utilized to add the realism necessary to a thorough understanding of graphic application.

Introduction to Ventilator Graphics

The first presentation includes the basics of understanding graphics. Included are detailed descriptions of the three scalars with emphasis on how the graphics are generated and their significance :

Flow Time

Pressure Time

Volume Time

The two loops functions are also presented in detail with a comparison to the scalars that generate the components of the loops:

Flow Volume Loop

Pressure Volume Loop

Clinical Application of Ventilator Graphics

This presentation takes the basic information and applies it clinically. Each of the three scalars are addressed separately in their clinical significance. The loops functions are also demonstrated along with clinical situations in which they are beneficial in the management of the ventilated patient. The interaction of the scalars is also highlighted to help the learner develop a standard approach to using ventilator graphics at the bedside.

Digital Graphics Library
